  • Ohio Outdoors - Cowboy up! Oklahoma hogs and Missouri Coyotes

This week the guys cover Andrew’s recent trip to the Missouri and Oklahoma. While on the trip, Andrew was able to take advantage of a night of coyote hunting with the boys from the Missouri Woods and Water podcast.  Nate, Andy, and Micah took him out and showed him a good time in the Show Me State. They spent the entire night out running around using thermal optics and calls to bring the coyotes to the table.

The majority of the show covers the Oklahoma extravaganza, where John Hudspeth from the Oklahoma Outdoors podcast, Nick Otto from the Huntavore podcast, and Dan Mathews from the Nomadic Outdoorsman podcast took a crack at some hogs. Dan struck first, but they all had some down by the end of the night.  Another late-night session with a lot of opportunities. Key take home about hogs: THEY ARE TOUGH.

Around the state some news of interest includes updates at the Delaware Wildlife shooting area, New K-9’s on the job, Walleye fishing in the state, and more.

Have a great week and enjoy the O2 if you get out into Ohio’s great Outdoors!

  • Houndsman XP - The Toughest Quarry in the Toughest Place Part 1

“There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.” - Ernest Hemingway

Clinton Cillers is playing a deadly game. He is tracking armed poachers in Africa with hounds.

Heath is able to connect with Clinton Cillers from South Africa. Clinton runs Tactical K9 Africa. He offers an array of K9 training to include Patrol/guard dog, bloodspoor, wildlife protection and man trailing. Clinton is now contracted to track down wildlife poachers in and around the area he lives. With 12 years running the Tactical K9 training facilities, Clinton has transitioned from the common police K9, Mali and Shepard to hounds. After some issues with the Bloodhounds, he now runs a bluetick cross that originated in the US. Clinton talks about how, and why he now runs this style of hound. He even throws in a few training tips from across the pond. This one is jammed packed full of gold, literally.

  • [UNCENSORED] - A Little Spring Fishing and a Big Camo vs Solid Color Clothing Debate

In this week’s [UNCENSORED] podcast by GoWild, Jacob and Derek start the show by talking about the early spring temperature swings and how they make for some tricky fishing. Derek was fishing deep and slow trying to dig up some largemouths. He tried several different baits– find out which ones got some strikes. Jacob mentions the biggest factors that affect bass action this time of year. Dan Johnson says he does a little fishing as well and visits the Mississippi River pools every spring. He also drops his favorite fish species and how he likes to fish for them. The guys come to an agreement about the hardest-fighting fish.

We also have a candid conversation about the rising influence of solid color hunting apparel products: Is there a shift away from camouflage patterns? We ask some tough questions that really get into the nuts and bolts of what it takes to be a successful whitetail deer hunter and suggest that your camo pattern may not be as important as you might think. Dan mentions what he feels is the biggest thing to do to kill more deer. We banter over the other factors such as noise and light reflection that might be more important in hunting apparel. We discuss other important considerations for choosing hunting clothing such as durability and comfort and talk about why proper base layers mean all the difference. We mention a few brands we like and a few we don’t. We also mention how and when camo became associated with hunting.

If you like what you’re hearing, please leave us a rate and review!!

[UNCENSORED] by GoWild kicks off your week with shameful nonsense, inappropriate convictions, and unfiltered tales from the woods, waters and whatevers. [UNCENSORED] is a behind the scenes look at our adventures, failures, wins, embarrassing moments at trade shows, hilarious tales from the warehouse, and a good rant or three about the most recent tyranny from the Dark Lord of the Sith himself.

  • Average Conservationist - A Fresh Start

Today on The Average Conservationist Podcast, Marcus is riding solo to talk about springtime and some of the ways you can get outside and do some good. When the snow is finally gone, you can start to see more green than white and brown, the days are getting longer and you're seeing more of the sun than you've seen in months. Now is the time to use all of that pent up angst from sitting inside during the winter and get out and do some good. Hit some local trailheads, water access points or even parks and pick up some trash that was left throughout the winter months. Take the family and make a day of it, now is a great time to have conversations with the young conservationists in our lives about leaving things better than you found them.
