A good story begins with an end. The loss of a loved one, a job, or an understanding of the world. Here we encounter the end of Jesus’s time on Earth and Death as we knew it. It is the End that pushes us out onto the path of discipleship, true discipleship.   And thus begins our story…

Mark Mark 14:17

We often end our prayer with ‘Amen,’ let it be so. It is a seal on our words, a wish, and a confirmation of the truth of what we said and heard. Jesus’s time is coming to an end, we raise an Amen to his life and ministry. We also say ‘Aṣẹ,’ a term from our Nigerian brothers and sisters. A wish for power to be instilled into the life and lessons of Jesus and our world. As Jesus prepares for the cross and we prepared for Good Friday, let us seal his teaching into our hearts and breathe power into living them.

We are called to be peacemakers. We approach this as pacifist, but we see in Jesus that we are not called to being passive-ist. What is our reaction to sin? We attach value to everything: material goods, time, relationships, and even people. What are we mislabeling? What do we price as Worthless that God deems Priceless? What do we see as Priceless, but is really Worthless?

Appearances can be deceptive, not only can they cause misleading assumptions, but they can keep us from realizing the correct path. God pushes us to transform ourselves, to make changes that may not be visible to anyone else. And to change again and again, ever reaching for Jesus’s example.
