Welcome back everyone. This is episode 53 of the Ass Backwards Anime Podcast. Just in case you didn't notice, this is the episode where we talk about Trigun. We mainly cover the anime on this one. I guess you can consider this part as the overall plot section of the show. We will make sure that Foxy is recording near a NASCAR track next time. Hopefully, there will be less noise there. I love how Zach quickly stated that he liked Disney movies when he was a kid. I thought those movies were timeless. Is it wrong to like a Disney movie when you get older? They're finally getting married! (24:36 - 30:42) Discussion (Would You Pull The Trigger?) This could be the first time in a while where we sounded like we knew what we were talking about. This is a very interesting topic that we may go back to in the future. I guess it shows that this series is one of those shows where you really need to sit down and think about what is really going on. That damn cat... (30:43 - 1:08:16) Discussion (You Can't Take The Sky From Me) As per our usual ass backwards fashion, we jumped back and forth between so many topics that I thought I should just group everything in this section together. It just shows that there so much to talk about. We may have to start creating bullet points for the notes next time since we can never seem to segment into proper topics when we cover only one show. Something that I am glad we didn't delve into were the Gung-Ho Guns. Some of the best parts of the series came from them. Even with all the talk about the major plot points, I still consider this a strong recommendation to watch this show. Sadly, there has not been any rescue of the series so far. We are finally here. I blame myself for not getting this out sooner. I thought it would be best to release this before the crew heads to MegaCon 2010. I am sure you started seeing changes on the site. The layout has changed, for the better I hope. We should have a seperate page now for the cast list. I think I have apologized way too many times already, so I am just going to move on and welcome you back to the show. This was an accomplishment to even bring to you guys. Though there are different opinions as to who the real Doombitch is in our show, we tend to lose every time Casper happens to be there. Which is sad since he usually does a great job being on the show. This episode is just one example of that fact. In this episode, we delve into the mysterious anime known as Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, or When They Cry - Higurashi. It may take some people a while for them to get used to them. I will admit that some of them act cute for the sake of acting cute, but once the more serious moments of the series come, you get to see that there are more to these characters. I am kind of upset that the dub of the series did not live up to the level that the Japanese actors set. They basically had the B squad for the dub. Guess I have been slacking off a bit and just gave you a lot of video clips. This one was quite a while in the making. I originally planned to do this one closer to the Kamen Rider Kabuto episode. I just play one on this show. I don't want to say that Boukenger gave me as high standards for Super Sentai series as Kabuto did with the Rider series. I will say that I mean every bit of of what I said. Really, if you are just starting to get into Super Sentai, you might have gone through the same thing I did. (22:23 - 51:23) Discussion (Our Heroes) I think its best for them to introduce themselves. (51:24 - 57:17) Discussion (Toys) Collect them all. (57:18 - 1:09:55) Discussion (Our Villans) Enemies are a mixed bag for me. From design standpoint, I would give it to Yami no Yaiba and the Questers. Some of the other monsters were very good too. Just based on the color scheme, you can easily tell from which group the are. Though there was still one that was just too silly... (1:09:56 - 1:16:40) Discussion (Movies/Specials) This part was the hardest for me. To be honest, these are quite skippable. I go back and watch videos of previous team-ups and both versions of Boukenger sadly never got my attention. The one glaring issue I had with the Boukenger Vs. Super Sentai special was obviously AkaRed. I guess they spent all their money on getting Tohru Furuya. It kinda reflects upon the American side as well. Though they did manage to get Adam for those episodes, everything around it did not really help it. I will say this: they have better transformation sequences. It's really funny that they got hot chicks to play HurricanBlue and the Blue Wind Ranger for the Japanese and American verison respectively. I don't know if I can stress over how awesome the Forever Red team-up was. It was just sad there was never a moment like that again. Hell, the Japanese version of that team-up is even harder to live up to. (1:16:41 - 1:20:11) Discussion (Entry Drug?)
