SSAA Podcast

As promised in our last episode, here is our interview with David Williams of Sentai Filmworks. We go through everything that I could come up on the spot because I did not expect him to accept having an interview when I asked him. I will remember to bring a cake next time. Aside from everything he has done with ADV, we talk about his philosophy of the company, some of his favorite shows and what to expect in the near future of Sentai Filmworks. Here is the second episode we are releasing this week. I guess you can consider this the MizuCon Filler Arc. I just used shounen action show terminology. I should be shot. Until then, you can hear us try to stay awake and talk about MizuCon itself. I'm sure you will all think I am a complete jerk by the end of it and will be glad that I am getting shot. Welcome to back to the Ass Backwards Anime Podcast. I missed you guys and gals. Did you miss us? I hope you did. Sorry for the wait. We are backed up on episodes and need to release these for something more important. If you are aware of the news, I am sure you can take a guess as to what we will be talking about in the future. I love being vague. Until then, here is the first of three episode will be release this week. Yes, three episodes this week. I am not going to get interrupted by random hotel parties or Scott Pilgrim for the rest of the week. I thought I would begin today with something we recorded before going to Mizucon a few weeks ago. We talk about an anime about someone awesome, another anime about a lucky bastard, then a drama about an awesome bastard and a lucky idiot and we end it with a British series about a famous, awesome bastard. Sorry for the wait. Busy watching movies and getting degrees. Now that have finished our piracy episode, you can now listen to something completely irrelevant. Here is our con report for Anime Festival Orlando 11. I again manage to not take any pictures. I even bought a new camera. I stink. Anime Festival Orlando is this week and we are going to be heading there. Expect things. In the meantime, here is another episode to make up for the lack of episodes last month. Recorded not long after our piracy episode, we recorded an episode of the current anime season with Funkatron and Josh Dunham from the Josh and Friends Podcast. This was recorded some time before Otakon and I somehow predicted one of this season’s shows getting licensed. Find out which one at the end of the episode...or the beginning. After all the trouble, we finally bring you this three hour long episode about piracy. For reals this time. Trust me, this took some effort to fix with all the dropped calls and the sound quality. We ended up having a lot of people join in on this episode. Aside from our usual hosts, we have Firecrouch and Funkatron from the Unofficial One Piece Podcast, Mikey D. Pirate from the One Piece at a Time Blog, and to even out the One Piece lovefest (which didn’t work out during the recording), we have Gothic Garra from the Konoha Corner Podcast, a Naruto podcast. Since this took longer than I wanted to, I will be releasing another episode tomorrow to make up for the long delays between recent episodes. I was not expecting to be sick while this episode was being produced. I am sure you can hear me slowly decay during this recording. It’s no secret what movies we have watched recently and that we can’t stop taking about them.. I think it would be best to tell you this is still an anime podcast. An anime podcast that has screwed up on more than one occasion and now is the time to fix that. We are going to read off all the corrections to our mistakes for the past decade of episodes. We are also going to read some feedback which ended up leading to an entirely different discussion. See you after the kick. We went a long way to bring you this episode. This is our con report on Anime Expo 2010. This was truly one of the best con experiences I have ever had. For those unlucky few that were following the Twitter, I am sure you got to read plenty of our experiences. Even though I, Doctor, mainly talk about the con itself, the other members of the podcast are going to share with you some of their misadventures. With 60 just around the corner, let’s see if our heroes can make it there in one piece. Since I am going to be on a plane for a little while, I think this will be the best time to release this episode. If you are wondering why I am going to be on a plane, I am on my way to Anime Expo. If you are also planning to fly to LA, or just want something new to read, we recommend the titles we talk about in this episode. This time, however, we are going to be covering some of our favorite manhwa, or Korean manga. They might be read differently than most manga, but they are still worth your time. We also read off some of our recent feedback. Don't expect much note since my flight leaves in about 30 minutes. OK. Since the actual discussion in this episode is not that important, I am mainly using this as a medium to announce that we are officially going to Anime Expo. The fact that this is the worst kept secret is not really the point of me announcing it here. We recorded this some time ago and we really had no idea the cost of how we are going to get some of the cast over there to Los Angeles. Foxy is demanding that I ask the audience to donate what you can to cover her cost to get over there. It turns out that the giant turtle that she lives on is slowly sinking and we need the funds to develop a vehicle for her to use to travel around the oil spill and get to the con. I seem to pick the worst times to tell people not to donate to our podcast. Consider the donate button as a "Help Foxy Not Die" button. Anyway, we, or likely just me, are going to be attending as regular guests of the con. I checked the analytics and can tell that our one listener has been checking our site in a lot of cities in California. If you feel like meeting us (please say no), email us and we can do a meet-up of some sort. I am sure that the guys from the One Piece Podcast might be around too if that gives you an excuse to see us. Regardless, I am going to be taking my portable mic and I might ask random strangers questions that I may post on the podcast. For those that are wondering about information on the con itself, go to the Anime Expo site. Oh right. Funkatron from the Unofficial One Piece Podcast asked us to record our first impressions on the Spring '10 anime season. That is in here too.
