This upcoming weekend is Memorial Day weekend. Its the unofficial start of summer but more importantly it is a day to remember those who passed away while serving during wars in the US military. In St. Andrews its a time to enjoy an ice cream, wear your best sundress and enjoy all the salty charm.

This week's episode features award winning author Pat Sabiston. Her first children's book is out and its called, "Can't Never Could". The release is intended for children ranging from pre-k to second grade and is a lovely wholesome addition to any child's personal book collection.

It's sure to be a busy weekend in St. Andrews! This Saturday is the 24th Annual Blessing of The Fleet in St. Andrews. This is a tradition that has been carried on for centuries. Not only is Blessing of the Fleet important to the boating community here in St. Andrews but it is also the primary fundraiser for Second Chance of North West Florida. A non-profit organization that provides a day program to adult survivors of brain injuries and their families.. This week we are joined by Second Chance's current president Sherl Morden to tell us all about the upcoming Blessing of the Fleet as well as her journey as an advocate for Second Chance. Due to nasty weather back in April The Inaugural Salty Cat Day that was originally scheduled in April will take place at The Market at St. Andrews this Saturday. This is a benefit to assist The Salty Cat Rescue which is working daily to aid cats in need throughout St. Andrews. For more information on the event please listen to episode 26 which features an interview with Jackie Mihal the driving force behind Salty Cats of St. Andrews.

It has a little bit of everything, art, home decor vintage clothing even vinyl records. This week the shop's creator and owner Kathie Patterson visits Floriopolis to tell the story of gypsy beach which began as a promise to Kathie's best friend who was lost to cancer before the space was found and the shop was opened.

St. Andrews is recovering fairly well since the Hurricane Michael Devastation in October 2018. However, it does not have any functioning hotels. There are quite a few charming Air B&Bs but no hotels. This isn't the first time in history that St. Andrews has lacked hotel accommodations. This week Ashley shares a news article from 1919 in The St. Andrews Bay News titled "That Hotel".
