When the author finished telling the story, she was very surprised by the reactions of the children. They had all sorts of questions about the procedures used to save the life of the cat, now named St. John by the veterinary staff. They wanted to know how you could become a veterinarian. They were so interested and curious, they inspired the author to write the beautifully illustrated book. Her hope is that by sharing the story of ST. JOHN THE AMBULANCE CAT, young readers will take away three messages:
