The Author
B L Pleisch is an American author from the state of New Hampshire. The home she shares with her husband she describes as moderate but is surrounded by forest which at this time of the year (late Fall) is possibly the place to be, as the trees near to her put on their autumnal colours of rich scarlets, golds and wonderful oranges. Bonnie has three children and seven grandchildren at the last count all of whom she is extremely proud of. Not forgetting of course her new goldendoodle puppy.
Bonnie has long held a passion to write, right from the age of thirteen. At some stage in her life, she was given an old typewriter which belonged to her grandmother and from that day forward to the present she has been hitting the keys churning out a whole host of literary work. Like most authors when she submitted her stories, she received countless rejections, one agent who bothered to replied stated that her plots didn’t have enough sex, drugs and rock and roll in them. Bonnie heeded that advice and when you look at her books there is plenty of those elements. Bonnie self-publishes her books and is still ever hopeful, even now as a mature lady in her early sixties, for someone to take her work on. Here’s hoping! So, without further to do let’s turn to her books.
Where does she get her ideas from, well she does watch a lot of detective series on TV

The Books
The Gem Hammond Detective Series
This series is a futuristic police detective series built around the characters Gem Hammond and her partner Ryan Summer. America 2335 is a very different place as to what it is today, it’s a period of chaos and turmoil, the post social-communist movement has changed America, the Union has gone and in its place is a darker vulnerable civilization albeit with a few powerful figures at the helm.
Deadly Campus Book 1
A series of heart-pumping chapters of thrills, spills and misadventures awaits your attention in this first of the series. Detective Gem Hammond is the main character throughout the books with the added support of her boyfriend Captain Ryan Summer and a whole host of other well-defined characters built into the narrative to get this stunning storyline told. It’s 2035. The murder of Gem Hammond’s sister lies at the heart of the story, was she killed as the latest victim of the campus killings? Or was she liquidated for her involvement with the PPF (Patriots Freedom Fighters)? As the investigation widens, and more students fall victim to the killer the case takes many unexpected turns cumulating with Gem Hammond herself being on the killer’s hit list.
Abandon me Not Book 2
The plot thickens as B L Pleisch takes us on another journey that surrounds the murder of Gem Hammond’s sister. It’s foretold over nine short chapters with a prologue and epilogue to enhance the narrative. Gem Hammond is still shaken from her sister’s murder. The PPF (Patriots Freedom Fighters) have intensified their efforts on the government forces with numerous assaults. Whose baby has been abandoned on Gem’s doorstep and how successful will her mother’s rescue be from a top prison camp. Again, BL PLeisch twists and turns the plotline to keep you gripped.
Forsake me Not Book 3
This is by far the biggest book in the series so far, B L PLeisch treats us to nine spine-tingling chapters. The story with a Christmas scene. Gem is decorating the family home like nothing before as it’s the first Christmas for Belle. Like most of B L Pleisch’s books the storyline rapidly intensifies as she takes you on a roller-coaster of a ride, who are the missing boys? Why have they been taken? whose body has been found? Why are Gem’s dreams haunting her? And what relevance do they have to the situation she is confronted with? Hmm…
Read the book along with the other two books that make up the series to find the answers to the questions.

Teresa Rowlands (Trish) lives in the Sydney area of Australia, she has two great passions in life, her family and writing for young children. Trish believes a young child who loves reading is a child prepared for whatever they must face further down the line. How long has Trish been writing, well the answer to that is more years than she cares to recall.
Trish is always grateful to Wal her husband for all the support he gives her, plus the support she receives from her son and daughter and grandchildren who are given the unenviable task of proofing her stories. If the grandchildren say yes, then the story is published. So, let’s have a look at four of her books.
Trish is also grateful to the Camden Writers and Scribblers group for their support as well. [email protected]

The Books
There are Fairies, Ladybirds and Butterflies in my Garden: Illustrated by John Dunn
A very simple story of three fairies, six ladybirds, and nine butterflies that appear in a garden. Nicola, Teagan, and Brianna are all invited to the garden by a mystery little character who appears at the end of the book. The illustrations are big, bold, brash, and fun. Everything a very young child needs in a lovable book like this. Fun! Fun! Fun…
This book comes with a CD as the words to the story have been put to music, the tunes and the lyrics are by the author herself. Thanks go to Gavin Antoniou, Reece Anderson and Phinemm Nelson of Vocalise Music and Performing Arts Academy, for putting it all together.
The Boy who had a Rainbow Dog: Illustrated by John Dunn
A delightful story of a boy looking for his dog Gyps, only to find her in a darken barn having given birth to seven puppies, each one a colour of the rainbow. A sweet, enchanting story beautifully backed by bright, vivid and big illustrations.
Nicholas’ Christmas Prayer: Illustrated by John Dunn
What can I say about this adorable Christmas tale about a boy and his Christmas prayers for a special family Christmas. The illustrations will take you back to your own Christmas experiences as a child.
Our Little Elephant: Illustrated by Paola Nadar
This is the story of Reid a young elephant who lived with his mum Boo and dad Ricky in the forest. Poor Reid he kept on bumping into things and falling over, so one day his mum took him to see Dr L E Phant. Reid laughed at the doctor which made him angry, he told them Reid should get his eyes tested, which they did. The fun Reid, Boo and Ricky had at the optometrist picking glasses is sweet. Reid, now with his new glasses could play to his heart’s content without bumping into things and falling over. What a joyous kid’s story. Again, the illustrations bring the story to life.

The Alex Boyd Thriller Series. Crescent City Carnage BOOK SIX
The Author
Mel Harrison is an American author from The Villages in Florida where he presently lives with his wife Irene to whom he has been married to for some considerable time. He spent twenty-eight years working for the U.S. Department of State. Most of his career years were spent working in the Diplomatic Security Service, he was assigned to the embassies in Saigon, Quito, Rome. London(twice). Seoul and Islamabad. While serving at the various embassies he worked as a Regional Security Officer (RSO) a special agent of the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) responsible for regional security at that those sites. In acknowledgement of his outstanding achievements in his field of high sensitivity he was awarded the department’s Award of Valour and the worldwide RSO of the year award.
Prior to joining the U.S. Foreign Service, he graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics, followed by post graduate work at The American University. The Department of State assigned him to the NATO Defence College in Rome for Political-Military studies. Did Mel enjoy his time the various embassies, most definitely! In fact, when you look at his books, they are all based on his experiences at the time of his watch while working in those countries. The stories and characters have been modified somewhat for diplomatic reasons. On all his overseas assignments his wife Irene accompanied him as she followed her own diplomatic career at the embassies albeit working in a slightly different field of diplomatic expertise.
Life after being a special agent for the U.S. State Dept saw Mel working in corporate security or consulting work for ten years, this work very often entailed trips to Latin America and The Middle East, something he equally enjoyed in addition to his world of security and counter-espionage.
Mel has written six books in the Alex Boyd Thriller series so far, but for the purpose of this podcast interview we’re mainly focusing on his latest Book ‘Crescent City Carnage.’ However, you can click the Amazon Links below of the other five books that make up the series to see what they are about.
The Book
Crescent City Carnage
There are fifty-three heart-pounding chapters to keep you the reader engrossed for days as Mel Harrison takes you on another spine-tingling, topsy-turvy, high -action thriller ride through the streets of New Orleans and elsewhere.
Alex Boyd and Rachel Smith are on their long-awaited annual leave and have chosen to visit their friend and colleague Simone Ardoin in New Orleans in the U.S. State of Louisiana. What’s Simone got herself into here hmm…! Simone’s callous murder has left her well-connected parents traumatised. They turn to Alex and Rachel to work alongside the NOPD to flush out who’s behind this act of barbarism.
The city of course is synonymous with its Laissez-Faire perspective on life and corruption. However, having agreed to give moral support to Simone’s parents Alex and Rachel set out with NOPD to expose who’s responsible for Simone’s death and the circumstances leading up to her murder. Alex ascertains full support from the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Office in New Orleans. Pointing the finger and identifying the killer is one thing, tracking and finding them is a whole different ball game, and is proving to be far trickier than expected. Does the killer have inside sources to assist them from being easily apprehended, plus enabling them to outsmart the NOPD at every turn? Maybe! The more the story develops the more Mel Harrison twists and weaves a spiders-web of hot and cold trails. What Alex and Rachel discover is that New Orleans’ streets and communities have their own unwritten codes of law and are very reluctant to break them. But crack them, they must if they want to get to the bottom of what’s going on here and catch who’s responsible for Simone’s demise. The clock is ticking. Some holiday this has turned out to be for Alex and Rachel.

The Author
David Rice was born in Australia but spent most of his childhood growing up in and around Tauranga on New Zealand’s North Island. The Bay of Plenty region like most of New Zealand is an area of outstanding natural beauty. He now lives in a small community with his wife and family called Iluka a coastal village at the mouth of the Clarence River in north-eastern New South Wales, Australia.
David was the fifth child of seven, born to a father of Irish Catholic origin and a mother of English heritage. His childhood was far from idyllic something he puts down to his mother’s narcissistic mannerisms, her own background was far from ideal with her father abandoning her and her six siblings for a younger woman in 1928. Her mother, David’s grandmother faced a daunting life and with not been able to support her children in a variety of areas, she suffered from depression and anxiety issues. As a result of his grandmother’s predicament his mother developed as he sees it a covert narcissistic personality disorder, which left emotional and psychological scars on his father and the rest of the family.
Curiously, not all his siblings took David’s viewpoint on his mother’s narcissistic traits, some of them saw her as a normal loving person, for David though right from the tender age of four his relationship with his mother was strewn with pain, and anxiety which gave rise to complex mental health issues something that he suffered with right up to 2008 when he finally plucked up the courage to readdress with the support psychological expertise.
David, to this day firmly believes his mother controlled with absolute positioning his older siblings, and had he not fled the situation his own mental wellbeing would be in a dire situation. David’s long-term relationship with his mother was virtually non-existent apart from a fleeting letter, for years they never spoke. David’s mother died this year at the age of ninety-five and it’s only now that he feels he can express his views through poems and advice for others who find themselves in a similar situation.
What David wants most for his readership to get from his book is three things:
Healing
Spirituality
Connection
So, let’s turn our attention to this extraordinary book he has written.
Check out our video chat here!
The Book
This book for me is a tale of two halves telling the true story of how David and his family were faced with a narcissistic mother and the consequences that ensued, both physically and mentally. The first half of the narrative is foretold in poetry, six poems to be precise and the second half is more of a dossier of David and his siblings own growing up experiences of trauma and child abuse at the hands of their mother, the narcissistic traits she displayed, coping mechanisms to deal with ‘Black Sheeping’, anxiety disorders, along with suggestions of how to face narcissistic behaviours on a daily basis.
The story is foretold around a nautical theme, hence the references to shipping terminology and the wonderful photographs of amazing ships. The members of the family have all been given ship’s names to add a sense of authenticity to the nautical theme that runs through the book. Who’s who can be found under Ships Name. Why the nautical theme? why write the book in this unique way? Why the subject matter of narcissism, trauma and child abuse? Well! Read the book to find out and form your own opinions as to David’s story. Mine was that the book was a tale of two halves, hence my reason for setting my write up as I did.

A K Cooper-Elliot was born in Germany, but now resides in Yorkshire a beautiful and breath-taking county in the UK. A K is married with two grown-up children that have fled the nest. Due to the early onset of Multiple Sclerosis, A K had to retire at a relatively early age from her high-flying executive career in procurement and accountancy due to the demands of the job and her functionality issues that were becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. With the decision reluctantly taken to step away from the world of high finance, A K turned to writing, giving her a new focus in life, a focus that can be fitted around her physical abilities. For a person living with M.S. some days can be more challenging than others, on a bad day not much gets done.
As far as A K can remember she has always loved books, reading a variety of genres. From reading to writing A K’s life has evolved, she writes both adult and children’s books, but for the purpose of this podcast we’re going to focus on one of her adult series; The Templeton-Miller Dynasty Series. ‘The Great Animal Escape’
What a book! I wish you every success with it and of course with all your other multi-award-winning-Children’s books. Zeke is still my favourite character out of all your books, even though he thought he was a cut above all the other dogs in the pack.

The Authors
Charles and Gloria live in the Cairn’s area of Queensland in Australia, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Cairn’s itself is often referred to as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Charles and Gloria recently got married due to their religious thinkings and ethos. The path to this union has due to cultural background differences not been an easy journey, yet a journey that brought them ever closer having lost loving spouses from previous relationships. So, let’s have a look at their individual backgrounds.
Charles:
Charles was born in Kecskemet 1939 in Hungary to a German Mother and Hungarian father. Growing up as a child in war-torn Hungary and Germany life was austere. On his tenth birthday he can recall arriving in Port Philip Bay, Melbourne, Australia. The family moved several times in those early years in and around the state of Victoria. Charles quickly learnt to speak English. He attended services at the German Lutheran Church. Charles graduated from the Universities of Melbourne and Tasmania in Chemistry and Biophysics respectively with a doctorate to follow. While at University he met his Czech born teacher wife Milena who sadly passed away in 2021. Charles’ children Paul and Jennifer have broadly speaking followed in their father’s footsteps into the scientific world. Science and religion often come into conflict as one deals in hard evidential facts and the other on belief from the bible. So, a scientist and a religious person is rare but that is who Charles Pallaghy is. His second marriage to Gloria, as for he is concerned has been a blessing, but it took some convincing to get his son and daughter to accept the situation. Plus, the fact moving from Melbourne to Cairns they thought he was mad. But as Charles said to me off screen,” it’s warmer in Northern Queensland than Melbourne and now that he’s of a certain age he needs all the warmth he can get.”
Gloria:
Gloria was born in the Sepik River area of Papua New Guinea; her parents were Catholics, and her grandparents whom she knew very little about apart from the fact the tribe in their early days partook in cannibalism, something that goes against everything Gloria herself stands for. Gloria at a young age met Casper a Christian and over a period converted to Christianity. Both herself and Casper attended Bible school, their reward was to serve as senior pastors in charge of the Port Moresby Assembly of God church. Their successful work there attracted unwanted attention from within their own families who tried their level best to destroy them by means of powerful witchcraft practises, something that is very much in evidence in Papua New Guinea. These ancient customs are even maintained by some of those in the Christian community. Gloria’s own husband Casper was determined to bring Christianity to his own village, a village where witchcraft was prevalent, even his own brother used it to oppose him. Shortly after returning to his ancestral village Gloria’s husband passed away under suspicious circumstances, was witchcraft a part of his demise, some of the family would side with that outcome. However, this left Gloria with two children destitute and vulnerable in a male dominated society whose treatment of women was nothing short of pure prime evil. Gloria endured the wrath of her male misogynist societal background for years but that did not stop her from becoming a schoolteacher actively mentoring and preparing young people for the world they were about to venture out into. Gloria eventually moved to Australia, but throughout her life even when she thought God had abandoned her, she kept her Christian faith. So, you can see how different Charles and Gloria’s life’s have been.
Since Charles and Gloria got married two books have emerged and this is what this podcast is about the merging of two very different religious upbringings coming together under one roof with fortitude and determination. So, let’s turn our attention to the books.

Natasha Burrell is a mother of three, who lives on a live style block on the Canterbury Plains of New Zealand’s South Island. If you have ever been there, you’ll fully understand when I say it’s a breathtaking place as is the whole of New Zealand. Before devoting her life to her children, she was a veterinarian, animals and the care of animals have always been a passion of hers, and while she’s not practising now, she still has a menagerie of livestock around her that keeps her busy. When you read her children’s book, you’ll see it does have a certain vet’s angle to it. So, let’s turn to the book.

The Book
Follow a veterinary tale about a cat who ran across the road in front of a paramedic
The book revolves around compassion and kindness to animals and is aimed at 5–6-year-olds. It’s a sweet, charming story about a cat that got knocked down by a paramedic on her way to a call out. The story is based on a true event that took place close to Dunedin. The narrative tale of St John the cat tells the journey from his accident to his recovery process to becoming lifelong friends with the paramedic. The illustrations are relevant, engaging and easy for a young child to understand the story. A nice book for a bedtime read to be enjoyed by a young child on their own depending on their reading ability or a shared moment with a parent or grandparent. Children who love animals and might want to work in pet rescue situations or who are thinking of becoming veterinarians will find this book very interesting.
I enjoyed it, there again I’m just a big kid at heart like most so-called grownups!

James M Corkill is a veteran and retired Federal Firefighter of thirty-two-years from Washington State in the United States. Prior to those years in the fire service, he was an electronic technician and in his spare time he studied mechanical engineering something he enjoyed very much.
Writing was never at the heart of James’ life but in 1997 he embarked on a new mission in life and that was to write. James worked on his first Book Dead Energy for several years and with his wife’s failing health due to cancer he rushed to get it published in 2002 so that he could proudly hold up a copy to his wife before she passed. Throughout the writing process of that book, he very much welcomed the mentoring skills of Hugh Barnett Cave the British and Jamaican horror author who he met in 1997.
After his wife’s death life turned into a downward spiral for James with alcohol being at the core of his daily life, it took some considerable time for him to adjust and come to terms with the loss of his soulmate who had for many years being at the very heart as to he was. In 2013 he bumped into a total stranger who had read his first book Dead Energy, that stranger encouraged him to write again. He quit the booze and relaunched the Alex Cave series with gusto and to date there are seven books in the series so let’s turn to the books to see what they are about.
Check out our video chat here!
The Books
The Alex Cave Thriller Series
Action Adventure, Science Fiction Mystery Thrillers
The first three books of the series are in themselves a mini-series.
The Energy Saga Trilogy
Dead Energy
Cold Energy
Red Energy
The other four books that make up The Alex Cave Series are very much part of the network, but the storylines are loosely independent of each other.
Gravity
Pandora’s Eyes
DNA
Parallel
You do, however need to read The Energy Saga Trilogy before you open the other books as those plots what make much sense to you.
Dead Energy
This book is a phenomenal ride when it comes to, nail-biting suspense accompanied with electrifying dramas. Alex Cave is the main character, he worked for the American Intelligence service the CIA, his work there involved complex and challenging projects. When is wife is murdered Alex steps away from the CIA for a quieter life as a geology teacher, but his new life didn’t last long. The Director of National Security Martin Donner reaches out to Alex asking for assistance as crude oil tankers across the globe are being attacked, not only tankers but oil refineries and oil pipelines vital to providing civilisation with basic amenities are also targeted. What has happened to that missing crude oil? What are those innocuous vials of crystal powder? Who are Reverend Menno Simons and his followers? And what’s their beef around environmental issues connected to crude oil? Want to know? Well, you’ll have to read the book.
Cold Energy
The second book in the overall series and The Energy Saga Trilogy, is another all-engrossing chain of dynamic events, spills and thrills. The story revolves around a frozen ocean that freezes within minutes. The consequence of this seismic event impacts the world’s climatic patterns. If the situation isn’t brought under control quickly then civilization as we know it could be faced with unequivocable ecological issues. Alex as a geophysicist is called to investigate the situation. The advanced alien technology discovered on the Aleutian Islands is stolen and sent to COBRA a private top-secret research facility close to Yellowstone National Park. The top scientists there are baffled with what they have been presented with. What is this alien technology? Who’s behind the snatch? And who on Alex’s secret mission on board the research vessel is jeopardising proceedings? Hmm…
Red Energy
Alex Cave is faced with a new set of troubles like those he had to confront in the previous book. This time the story is about the rapidly expanding Polar Ice Sheet. The Ice sheet has spread thousands of square miles within a matter of minutes. Alex receives a message from a friend in Northern Canada. The Ice this time is crystal clear. Alex heads north and again he ventures onto the research vessel Mystic and again he encounters an uncooperative crew, particularly the captain. What secrets he uncovers is simply mind-blowing.
Hmm…what an exciting trilogy and start to the overall series.
Gravity
A science fiction narrative that incorporates giant globules of molten rock floating up out of an ancient glacier, a dormant volcano deep within a mountain that Alex and friend O’ Conna explore, what they discover is frightening. Who is Janis Sloan? What’s her motive to stealing? And has she bitten off more than she can chew with the device she has stolen and abandoned? What is the device that has the capability of dragging satellites and the International Space Station back to earth and more horrifyingly attract a gold asteroid to collide with the earth, the consequences of which are simply unimaginable.
This is a real page turner of a book, no wonder it has four awards.
Pandora’s Eyes
The colour of your eyes will determine your fate in this book. Alex Cave is confronted with another set of worrying factors that have the potential to jeopardise Earth’s functionality. What are the four artifacts Alex has unearthed? Where are they presently? What is the connection between the devices that have gone missing and Pandora a blue-eyed woman who has just been awoken? Why does she determine brown eyes as a degenerative gene? What of her ultimatum for all brown-eyed humans to be voluntarily killed to save her own kind?
A fascinating read.
DNA
DNA and social media postings will determine who will be chosen to survive a coming apocalypse. Mya Austin is an archaeologist for the Sioux Nation, she has discovered a Colorado cave that has a 25-thousand-year-old drawing depicting two human visitors from space. The message written below the drawing in ancient Sioux indicates that they will return in 25-thousand-years. Carbon dating determines that their return is imminent sometime this year. To verify her understanding she needs the support of a geophysicist to resolve the age of the rock strata, alas Alex Cave is brought into the equation. The two humans from space have indeed returned in the characters Vesta and Paul. The news they bring is not good, and they offer to take five hundred people back with them for a new life. But Alex is suspicious of Vesta’s intentions and when the real reason for their return is exposed Alex and his team embark on a concerted effort to change the course of time and ultimately earth’s future.
Parallel
Some experiments should never be attempted, Ex-CIA operative and geophysicist Alex Cave searches for the source of seismic activity in the Pacific Ocean. What he discovers is an ancient alien laboratory, getting in is the easy part but getting out is far more complex.
A deep sinister storyline full of intrigue. A great read.

Scott C Meischen is an author, teacher, consultant and encourager according to the call of God. Scott grew up in the Christian church but understood that as a young adult, his faith was nothing more than a cultural legacy of Christianity. Professionally trained and in the daily practice of truth (and falsehood) detection (as an internal auditor and single father of three) he found his way (at the prompting of God the Holy Spirit) to authentic biblical faith in the Faith: authentic, orthodox Christianity. Led by God and aided by many outstanding ministries, he found his way to the New Life, which was only made possible by engaging in an authentic love relationship with Jesus Christ. Today, Scott ministers in his local church as a faithful member, Bible teacher and Christian apologist to those also seeking a Jesus-sourced New Life, a Live Wise life. Scott lives with his wife, Debbie, their six adult children and their spouses, and eleven grandchildren in the Central Texas area. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, the University of Texas, and is a certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM).

The Book
This soul searching, enriching book for me is written for the person who as the title suggests is probing for a more fulfilled life, a life spiritually enhanced with God’s wisdom and love, a life where Christian values are at the heart of their everyday activities. The book is extremely well written and although it’s quite lengthy in total it carries some significant messages that we can all learn from. Scott has broken the main thrust of the ideology behind his philosophical approach into three journeys. The first journey is headed up ‘The Salvation Journey’ and comprises five areas of spiritual exploration. The second Journey headed up as ‘The Sanctification Journey’ has six areas of topical debate about further exploratory avenues to consider to lead a Live Wise Christian life. And finally, the third journey ‘The Glorification Journey,’ with one area of consideration. But I have to say to fully understand and appreciate the over-riding concept of the book you would be well advised to spend some time getting to grips with the Glossary and Acronyms section that fronts the book as Scott does draw heavily on this segment for pure reference points to substantiate his ideological thinking’s throughout the book as a Whole. Has this book been written as a bedtime cosy read! No. It’s a guidebook as the subtitle alludes to, to help people enrich their spiritual lives and overall make them better people as they progress through life with all its complexities and uncertainties.
