James M Corkill is a veteran and retired Federal Firefighter of thirty-two-years from Washington State in the United States. Prior to those years in the fire service, he was an electronic technician and in his spare time he studied mechanical engineering something he enjoyed very much.
Writing was never at the heart of James’ life but in 1997 he embarked on a new mission in life and that was to write. James worked on his first Book Dead Energy for several years and with his wife’s failing health due to cancer he rushed to get it published in 2002 so that he could proudly hold up a copy to his wife before she passed. Throughout the writing process of that book, he very much welcomed the mentoring skills of Hugh Barnett Cave the British and Jamaican horror author who he met in 1997.
After his wife’s death life turned into a downward spiral for James with alcohol being at the core of his daily life, it took some considerable time for him to adjust and come to terms with the loss of his soulmate who had for many years being at the very heart as to he was. In 2013 he bumped into a total stranger who had read his first book Dead Energy, that stranger encouraged him to write again. He quit the booze and relaunched the Alex Cave series with gusto and to date there are seven books in the series so let’s turn to the books to see what they are about.

Dead Energy

Gravity
Pandora’s Eyes
DNA
Parallel
You do, however need to read The Energy Saga Trilogy before you open the other books as those plots what make much sense to you.
This book is a phenomenal ride when it comes to, nail-biting suspense accompanied with electrifying dramas. Alex Cave is the main character, he worked for the American Intelligence service the CIA, his work there involved complex and challenging projects. When is wife is murdered Alex steps away from the CIA for a quieter life as a geology teacher, but his new life didn’t last long. The Director of National Security Martin Donner reaches out to Alex asking for assistance as crude oil tankers across the globe are being attacked, not only tankers but oil refineries and oil pipelines vital to providing civilisation with basic amenities are also targeted. What has happened to that missing crude oil? What are those innocuous vials of crystal powder? Who are Reverend Menno Simons and his followers? And what’s their beef around environmental issues connected to crude oil? Want to know? Well, you’ll have to read the book.
The second book in the overall series and The Energy Saga Trilogy, is another all-engrossing chain of dynamic events, spills and thrills. The story revolves around a frozen ocean that freezes within minutes. The consequence of this seismic event impacts the world’s climatic patterns. If the situation isn’t brought under control quickly then civilization as we know it could be faced with unequivocable ecological issues. Alex as a geophysicist is called to investigate the situation. The advanced alien technology discovered on the Aleutian Islands is stolen and sent to COBRA a private top-secret research facility close to Yellowstone National Park. The top scientists there are baffled with what they have been presented with. What is this alien technology? Who’s behind the snatch? And who on Alex’s secret mission on board the research vessel is jeopardising proceedings? Hmm…

Alex Cave is faced with a new set of troubles like those he had to confront in the previous book. This time the story is about the rapidly expanding Polar Ice Sheet. The Ice sheet has spread thousands of square miles within a matter of minutes. Alex receives a message from a friend in Northern Canada. The Ice this time is crystal clear. Alex heads north and again he ventures onto the research vessel Mystic and again he encounters an uncooperative crew, particularly the captain. What secrets he uncovers is simply mind-blowing.
Hmm…what an exciting trilogy and start to the overall series.
A science fiction narrative that incorporates giant globules of molten rock floating up out of an ancient glacier, a dormant volcano deep within a mountain that Alex and friend O’ Conna explore, what they discover is frightening. Who is Janis Sloan? What’s her motive to stealing? And has she bitten off more than she can chew with the device she has stolen and abandoned? What is the device that has the capability of dragging satellites and the International Space Station back to earth and more horrifyingly attract a gold asteroid to collide with the earth, the consequences of which are simply unimaginable.
This is a real page turner of a book, no wonder it has four awards.
The colour of your eyes will determine your fate in this book. Alex Cave is confronted with another set of worrying factors that have the potential to jeopardise Earth’s functionality. What are the four artifacts Alex has unearthed? Where are they presently? What is the connection between the devices that have gone missing and Pandora a blue-eyed woman who has just been awoken? Why does she determine brown eyes as a degenerative gene? What of her ultimatum for all brown-eyed humans to be voluntarily killed to save her own kind?
DNA and social media postings will determine who will be chosen to survive a coming apocalypse. Mya Austin is an archaeologist for the Sioux Nation, she has discovered a Colorado cave that has a 25-thousand-year-old drawing depicting two human visitors from space. The message written below the drawing in ancient Sioux indicates that they will return in 25-thousand-years. Carbon dating determines that their return is imminent sometime this year. To verify her understanding she needs the support of a geophysicist to resolve the age of the rock strata, alas Alex Cave is brought into the equation. The two humans from space have indeed returned in the characters Vesta and Paul. The news they bring is not good, and they offer to take five hundred people back with them for a new life. But Alex is suspicious of Vesta’s intentions and when the real reason for their return is exposed Alex and his team embark on a concerted effort to change the course of time and ultimately earth’s future.
Some experiments should never be attempted, Ex-CIA operative and geophysicist Alex Cave searches for the source of seismic activity in the Pacific Ocean. What he discovers is an ancient alien laboratory, getting in is the easy part but getting out is far more complex.
A deep sinister storyline full of intrigue. A great read.
