"A Story to Tell: The Ethiopian Eunuch" – Acts 8:26-40

The man from Candace’s court isn’t stumbling along – he is intentionally trying to learn about God.  It would seem that Jerusalem isn’t the first place he has visited looking for a God to serve and worship.  His seeking opens his heart, and he WANTS to learn about the faith.  The story of the eunuch is the story of seeking God on purpose, and finding Jesus can bring hope.

"A Story to Tell: Paul and the Road to Damascus" – Acts 9:1-9

On a patriotic day we meet Paul.  He loves his people, and wants to defend them at all costs.  But when God intervenes, he discovers that loving his nation means hearing from God in an entirely new way.  The story of Paul tells us that God will give us new citizenship – in heaven not just on earth.

"A Story to Tell: Moses and the Burning Bush" – Exodus 3:1-6

Moses is well aware of where he came from – a Jewish man who had allegiance to Jewish people.  He IS a believer in his culture.  But it is at the burning bush that he becomes a believer not just in his community, but in a God who can change him.  The story of Moses resets our understanding of cultural Christianity to remind us that God breaks into our world to change it.

"The Language of Lament" – Psalm 39 

We want to address pain with the right word, the right answers.  But God invites us to bring our honest pain to the foot of the cross.  By being honest about our pain, we learn that God is powerful enough to bear our burdens and remind us that we are loved.
