God kept that promise. The faith the Simeon had as he awaited Jesus, is the same faith we have today.

A Devotional Thought: Advent is a time to prepare. Throughout the Bible there is an emphasis on preparation. John the Baptist proclaimed, "Prepare the way of the Lord." Mary and Joseph prepared for their baby. Jesus is preparing a place for us. As we prepare for Christmas, we also prepare our hearts for that final day when He comes. As the prophet Amos said, "Prepare to meet your God" (4:21).

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." Why did God choose to announce the birth of his son to the shepherds? Why did they fear the Lord? Hear examples of how sharing the story of the birth of Jesus is an opportunity to those who may live without God or who fear God, that God loves them.
