Pastor David Smith continues studying 1 Corinthians 6. The Apostle Paul begins to deal with a number of problems plaguing the church at Corinth. In chapter six he expresses his great disappointment in them for filing legal action against fellow Christians in the congregation rather than resolving these worldly matters “in house.” Such legal actions are to their shame and do nothing to enhance their witness to Jesus Christ to unbelievers. He also warns them to avoid the unrighteous who practice all manner of sin deliberately and without repentance. They are different. They are washed, sanctified and justified in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Pastor Glen Thomas led an in-depth study of 1 Corinthians 5 in which Paul deals with a matter of sexual immorality in Corinth and commands the congregation to expel the man responsible.
In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul makes it very clear there is only one foundation to build your life on and on which the church itself must be built. The foundation is Jesus Christ the very wisdom of God. When we build on this foundation by faith all things are ours, we are Christ’s and Christ is God’s. This is the very plan of God for each of us.
Paul leaves no doubt about what is true wisdom in this world. True wisdom is not found among the teachings of this world, the philosophies of the world, the eloquent words of the world. True wisdom comes from God. Indeed, Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God. God demonstrates this is the true wisdom in power and in the Holy Spirit as the message of the Gospel works faith in the hearts of men and women in Corinth and in the world.
Pastor David Smith begins the study on 1 Corinthians with a background on Corinth.
Pastor Glen Thomas leads an in-depth Bible study of Luke 12:54–13:9, featuring the teaching by Jesus concerning repentance, the interpretation of tragedies, and the patience of God concerning those who are outside of the kingdom.
As we continue in our summer series in the Gospel of Luke, today we examine what it means to be rich, as Jesus gives us the parable of a man rich in things and yet poor in God. This parable reminds us that the gifts of God, both earthly and heavenly, are the Father’s good pleasure to give to us.
Pastor Glen Thomas leads an in-depth study of Luke 12:1-12 where Jesus, on His way to Jerusalem, teaches His disciples concerning hypocrisy, fear, and confessing Him before men.
