Dr David Marlin discusses the topic of Nutrition

This podcast is loosely based around a Facebook Live event done by Dr David Marlin recently.

Nutrition and specifically looking at the sort of information David has collected over the past 5 to 10 years from horse owners on the problems that they have with their horses, particularly from a nutrition point of view.

The nutrition questionnaire that David used with horse owners is around 50 questions long and it asks a wide variety of questions, starting with questions about the horse, its temperament age, sex breed, things like that, what it's used for, what sort of feeds it's on what sort of work it's in Vaccination, teeth illness, all sorts of questions like that.

In this podcast, David will be discussing the sort of things that these questionnaires have thrown up and also what the most common advice David would give.

Cupping has been around for thousands of years, but past anecdotal and hearsay what evidence and research are there and what are Dr. Gillian Tabor’s thoughts are about this style of therapy.

Many people are now aware that there is an Anti RICE movement, (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) growing in human use. RICE has been used widely for the treatment of acute soft tissue injury in human therapy for years and RICE is still widely used in professional sport despite some medics campaigning against it.  However, in the equestrian world cold therapy or Cryotherapy is widely used without a lot of negativity; let’s look at why this is and at the benefits of RICE in equestrian sport in more detail

Dr Gillian Tabor, a Chartered Physiotherapist who specialises in the treatment and rehabilitation of horses, takes a look into a journal article that was published last year by Ellis & King. Discuss what they did, how they measured it and what they found. The article references the rehabilitation exercises that Gillian also recommends that you can do with your horses of different ages and experiences.

Dr Gillian Tabor on Equiband and the use of training aids.

Dr Gillian Tabor, a Chartered Physiotherapist who specialises in the treatment and rehabilitation of horses, discusses training aids. Although training aids aren't compulsory, they are useful in the right context with the right horse, at the right time and set up correctly. Gillian talks about the use of this specific system made by a company called Equity Core concepts.
