Adam Kangas is a software developer who turned to the dark side (the arts). Hailing from Michigan, he studied improv with a number of US comedy theatres across the country where he discovered that if a humble IT nerd could learn comedy, then anyone could. He came to Australia in 2010 and performed with a number of Melbourne improv companies. In 2012 however, he broke away to start his own. Since then Adam has dedicated his career to fostering and showcasing Melbourne's best comedy.

#004 - part 01 with Laura Buskes.
Let's delve in to the world of Improv Comedy. Show runner, Laura Buskes walks us through her experience as a player at the Improv Conspiracy.
Improv is something I’m quite unfamiliar with, Laura was kind enough to give us her inside knowledge in to the different styles of Improv, the kinds of workshops she helps to facilitate, and what to expect with your first experience in to the wonderful world of Improv.
Laura is an actor and writer who came across improv in 2013 when she was trying to help her then-boyfriend find courses in stand up comedy. After they broke up, she vowed revenge on him by taking classes in improv with the end goal of being funnier than him. It's cool, they're still friends, but he's definitely funnier (dammit). Once she took a class she fell in love with the prospect of getting on stage without having to memorise a script first, so she continued on with the company another few years before they finally employed her as the Theatre Operations Manager and Assistant Artistic Director. These days she works at the Improv Conspiracy office, occasionally teaches classes in improv and performs in the ensemble cast a few times a month.

#003 - Part time comic, full-time lawyer, Sashi Pererra talks to us about her journey in to the world of Stand Up Comedy. In 2017 Sashi first stepped on to the stage in Australia’s largest open-mic competition.
Sashi Perera became a comedian after working as a refugee lawyer for almost a decade. She is a member of the Breast of the Fest cast, a RAW Comedy state finalist, a scholarship student at The Improv Conspiracy Theatre and was recently featured in Broadsheet for being a Comedy Nobody.
Initially from Sri Lanka, Sashi moved first to Perth, and now calls Melbourne home. We learn about her different tools for refining her techniques to deliver a funny performance.
Sashi takes us through her first steps and how she first got in to comedy. We learn about her experience across stand-up comedy, open mic nights and improv. We discuss the differences between those various types of comedy and the various skills required to get involved. Sashi was very open and kind enough to share her thinking and motivation behind what got her inspired to start. No doubt this conversation will get you keen to take the leap in to comedy, too.

#002 - Sally Ingram: Hi-Tech, DJ & Pro Audio Specialist.
My first guest in this episode is an experienced musician, DJ, and an absolute pleasure to chat with. I met Sally at her work when I was buying all my equipment to record this podcast. Her knowledge of music was impressive to say the least and I couldn’t help but ask her to be my first guest.
Having been born into a musical family and encompassing a musical history ranging from being involved in various theatre shows, to jazz and experimental rock projects, it comes as no surprise for Sally to have amassed an eclectic sound and collection of tracks. Her diverse taste is reflected in her mixing, as a professional percussionist, her ears are tuned to all things to make you groove - ranging from 70’s funk on vinyl to bass heavy electro.
Sally talks us through her current situation in Melbourne’s music scene. We go through how her involvement in music growing up, support from her family and the lead in to her interest in DJing. Recorded in the beautiful Edinburgh Gardens, North Fitzroy.
