Stand Up For The Truth Podcast

[Original airdate: 6/13/25] Mary welcomes Dr. David Reagan for the first time to SUFTT. David founded Lamb & Lion Ministries on April 1, 1980 and they are celebrating 45 years of building up and edifying the body of Christ, urging us all to be watchful, prayerful, and joyful in Christ.  Dr. Reagan is a native Texan, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. His graduate degrees were earned in the field of International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy of Tufts and Harvard Universities. Before entering the ministry, he had an extensive career in higher education. David is a life-long Bible student, teacher, and preacher. He entered the full-time ministry in 1976 when he was called to serve as the pulpit minister for a church in Irving, Texas.  He has written over 20 books and has contributed to many others. Today we talk about the rising perilous tide all around us, starting with Israel's brilliant attack on Iran. Then we discuss whether socialism is our expected national doom, as the left ratchets up every cause they can dream of, including antisemitism -  an offense to a holy God. Lawlessness and violence threaten to spill over to any community on any day as the left uses whatever crisis suits them to foment trouble. Never mind that they themselves are lawless at heart, when the president tries to establish law and order, and it is vilified, we know just how far the violence has permeated our fragile sense of society. We also talk about the national marches planned for Saturday as it is Trump's 79th birthday and the 250th anniversary of our Army. The No Kings Movement is gaining steam from the left and could change the face of our nation yet again. What could happen next on this fragile planet is anyone's guess.

Mary welcomes Barbara Pement, formerly senior editor of Cornerstone Magazine of Chicago, is a writer, teacher, wife, mom and grandmother. Barbara grew up on Chicago’s Southside in Maple Park, Chicago’s first African American homeowners’ neighborhood. She joined Jesus People USA in her 20s where she met her husband of 44 years. Barbara has a BA in journalism from Bradley University and has studied radio/television broadcasting at Columbia College in Chicago. Currently she is actively involved with Ratio Christi on the University of North Florida campus, a ministry that equips and trains students in apologetics. Today we look at her rich and varied life through 2 books:  “Was...Was That Jesus?” her memoir of 23 years at Jesus People USA.  Her latest is, “Maple Park: Gathered Treasures of Black Life in the ‘60s”. They can be found here. We talk about her testimony, her upbringing, her years at JPUSA. Through all her seasons of life, the Lord was clearly directing her steps, and hearing her testimony will encourage those who struggle with piecing together various seasons where events sometimes just don't always bring clarity on this side of eternity.

Mary welcomes back David Holland to get his take on the thing of which most of us have little to no working understanding: the global economy. On the recent death of internationally known Fed Chair Alan Greenspan at age 100, we look at the world he presided over, versus the partisanship and digital challenges 20 years later. Yet one thing remains constant: God is the one Who will allow the Money Masters of the Universe to pull the rug and the plug and lead us into the Revelation version of a global economy. Who is the new Fed Chair and what does he want with our money? We talk about tech bubbles, national bubbles, booms and busts while navigating warnings of the sky falling on us all. What is the Yen Carry Trade? Empires and kingdoms have come and gone and crumbled at some point so we know change is on the way regardless. Always an informative hour with David.

On today's edition on SUFTT, Tim and Mary take a look at the topics du jour that help the listener see that there is so much they are not hearing about. Believers have a choice to make with every passing day and headline, what will we believe about what we have heard? How does the Scripture address it?  Do we have the whole picture? A godly worldview implies that there will be a testing of the spirits and the ongoing action of being a Berean, and when it comes to the news, training ourselves to read between the lines. Today we talk about the Iran deal; with most news commentaries coming against Trump, is there something we are not considering? Not everyone thinks it is a bad deal. We also look at the latest on Fauci, RSV vaccine experiments in the 1960s, and the replacement of Keir Starmer - good, bad or same? Sometimes we subtly believe half truths innocently, but are we also refusing truth at the same time? Proceed with caution here in 2026.

Dr. JB Hixson

Mary welcomes back JB Hixson to talk about his latest book, "Fade to Black: Rise of Global Tyranny". When he wrote Spirit of Antichrist and Spirit of the False Prophet, these well thought out books became invaluable to those who need a resource on the leading subjects of Bible prophecy today. But in short order, these same subjects have continued to bring ever clearer understanding of how they all reflect the lateness of the hour. In this updated work, JB presents an even sharper picture of not only what is going on, but the spirit behind it, something the Bible lays out fully when it addresses the pride and pretense of our arch-enemy, Satan. Current events playing out in our world are merely symptoms of the cosmic war, with humans as the spoil. We look at the 7 spirits that make up the "signs of the times": the spirits of Pretense, Power, Phenomena, Pride, Persecution, Perversion, and Pluralism. An insightful hour with JB as the world "fades to black".

[Original airdate: 2/19/26] Mary welcomes back Pastor Mike Abendroth to talk about forgiveness, such a timely topic in an age where selfishness and brutality seem to rule. What does the Bible teach us about forgiveness? What in the heart of God prepares us sinful humans to be forgiven, AND to forgive? The thing is, times not withstanding, the Word of God has the final say. And it is the characteristic mercy of God that even allows for it. We look at what mercy is, what grace is, what true forgiveness is - and what it isn't. Yes people are brutal; they often don't care about truth or mercy in their deepest inward parts. But God. Mike's passion is preaching the Bible in a verse-by-verse fashion and training other men to do the same. Pastor Mike is also the author of the book entitled Jesus Christ: The Prince of Preachers. Mike has been the Senior Pastor at Bethlehem Bible Church (BBC) in West Boylston, MA since April 1997.

PASTOR CLAUDE STAUFFER

Mary welcomes back Pastor Claude Stauffer to talk about the importance of being a dad of integrity. What is usually the message on our greeting cards and in our Fathers' Day sermons? We can't say because we probably don't remember. But when it comes to biblical exhortation for dads, Jesus always brings it down to the heart of the matter - taking up our cross and following Him and seeking the kingdom, because then everything else falls into place. But that cross - that is where everything becomes clear. What is parenting if not a cross, where we die to ourselves and lay down our lives for little people who may never love us in return, or run off without even so much as a thank you? Once that baby is brought home, we are instantly brought low and in need of trusting in God. We talk today about integrity, keeping our word, being providers, loving our spouses, handling tough times, and standing for truth. All things our children need to see in us to best model the heart of God.

Mary welcomes Mondo Gonzales back to the podcast to discuss the varied and yet connected areas of his expertise. With an eye on the heavens through the Psalm 19 Project and his archaeological work and field study in Greece, Turkey, the Island of Patmos, Israel, Jordan, Peru and all over Egypt, we ask, are those things connected - prophetically, historically, scientifically? We get to ask him about what it's like to be a cosmic archaeologist, exploring God's glory and also Israel's past. Then we look at Iran and the endless speculation about what Trump's efforts mean currently and perhaps down the prophetic road. Pundits and content creators seem to fall all over each other to outdo the speculation but is it premature, or worse yet, is it about getting internet clicks and traffic? If the latter, then we can forget about truth, but rather wait and see what God is going to do about Israel and her pending redemption. We also look at the red heifer recently born in Israel. A very full hour with an accomplished prophecy student, apologist, and lover of truth.

On today's edition of SUFTT, we review what it means to be a Berean, as outlined in Acts 17. When Paul was preaching Christ to the Thessalonian Jews, he also had the attention of the Greeks in attendance at the synagogue. Greeks often attended in those early days of the church because they weren't interested in the rampant paganism, but opted instead to hear about the Jewish Messiah. While the Jews weren't interested in having their traditional boat rocked, the Greeks of Berea were considered more noble because they were critical thinkers and sought to search the Old Testament daily to see if what Paul said was true, and many got saved. Today we use that context to talk about the ways the church must be Bereans as well - critical thinkers - when it comes to understanding and believing God about Israel and about prophecy. Churches that don't teach prophecy, which permeates both old and New Testament, are not being Bereans. The challenge to filter everything we hear, every day by the Word of God may require time and diligence but it is of the utmost importance.
