It’s May! and may I tell you: this week’s podcast is amazing! It’s another ESPN ’30 for 30’ documentary deep dive and this time it's all about The Nature Boy himself, Ric Flair!
For those that don’t know, Ric Flair was a legendary wrestler in WCW and WWE and an icon across many, many platforms and generations, known for his lavish persona and hilarious, viral promo videos. Wooooo!
He also, I found out, properly dedicated himself to wrestling and entertainment to a maniacal level; being the consummate professional meant having a very precarious personal life. Who was the real Ric? Can famous people lead normal lives? Is the need to be “a man’s man” just a cover up for fear?
I try to find this out, as well as speaking about loads of other stuff including my childhood wrestling days and, if I'm being honest, the last ten minutes of this episode is just a ridulous meltdown! It really is a brilliant podcast about a complex man who for both better and worse has had a well-lived life, so put on your favourite lizard shoes and enjoy!
