With true religious freedom under assault right now in so many parts of the world – including here at home – what about the freedom not to believe? The 2023 Freedom of Thought Report from Humanists International is a global survey that assesses every country in the world on the basis of human rights and legal status with regard to humanists, atheists, and the non-religious. I’ll talk with Humanists International Chief Executive Gary McLelland, and Nicole Carr, Interim Executive Director of the American Humanist Association.

We’ll also take a look back at the top news stories impacting – or impacted by – religion during this past year, with Religion News Service journalists Adelle Banks and Jack Jenkins.
