I talk to Dr Dioné Harley about resilience from the perspective of Ancient Philosophers. What were the moral theories of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus and the Stoics, and how does resilience factor into their conception of the virtuous life? 

What the ancient philosophers all have in common is their belief in shaping the soul to become strong. What they mean by this is that living the good life requires humans to develop their souls so that they are guided by reason and engage in virtuous activities to mould moral dispositions. 

For them, resilience is part of the story insofar as you need to find ways of preventing your emotions from overwhelming to the point where you fail to act in accordance with the virtues: temperance, justice, courage and wisdom – to name a few. To do this, you need to develop your rational faculties so that you can put your emotions and appetites in perspective, undermine irrational beliefs that may inform them, and reflect on whether indulging your emotions will help the situation. Over time, your emotions will follow reason’s judgment, and this is how you become more resilient.

She was lambasted by a Karyn from mainstream media for speaking out against the government's arbitrary lockdown rules.

This is a lost opportunity for MSM to defend our civil liberties instead they once again cow toed the line choosing the state over civil liberties as they have been for years which puts the relevance of MSM into question.

My favorite quote from Gillians Article *Freedom intensifies*

"I will not apologise for expressing my own view and will continue to do so. The choice of adjectives and nouns that I chose may have been unfortunate, but when an irrational regulation with no basis whatsoever and clearly with no thought as to the best interests of parents and children, hinders my contact with my own child, I will remain upset and deeply so. Criticism of choice of language should not be used as a tool to stifle dissent."

As our farmers are on route to Senekal on 16 October 2020 to support the Horner family as Brendin who was only 21 was brutally murdered and also to build awareness of the brutal fashion and extreme rate at which farmers are being murdered in South-Africa.

I decided to dedicate an episode to building rural resilience and encouraging all South Africans not to outsource their own safety.

I see too many people asking for "help" from a government that are criminals themselves and actively denounce farmers and the minority and allow the EFF to drive racial division with impunity.

Both the ANC and SAPS cannot organise a piss-up in a brewery, why do people insist on asking for help from the useless institutions?

I have the Lone Gunman Gideon from Paratus to discuss this and why everyone should get armed and practice self-defense and scale this into a coordinated community effort.
