Episode Cliff Notes:
At what point can/ will we allow ourselves to LET ourselves be supported?
“Guilt” from asking for help, why?
“Natural reaction” vs. our comfort zone (regardless of the toxicity of that zone)
How it’s really very “people pleasing”... on repeat…
The end result = denying and suppressing
What conditions us to not want help/ feel guilty for asking for help?
Cultural, “buzz words”, empowered independence, “we should be there already”, “all you have to do is choose/ make the choice to change what’s not fulfilling you”
“Baby steps towards self realization”
Choice vs. putting in the work to achieve/ become “x”
THERE’S NEVER A DESTINATION, always a journey…
Aspire to BEING happy…
Disheartening to hear the messages all the time w/o understanding that YOU’RE GOING TO NEED HELP
What’s valuable to you?
Too proud to be in a position to not know or understand…
WHAT IF thoughts…
It’s ok to fail…it’s OK.
Is the “Empowerment movement” empowering?
Taking radical ownership/ playing chicken with ourselves…how far are we REALLY willing to go…?
More people than we think are willing to help us.
And if they aren’t willing…it’s the wrong space to be in …
Asking/ getting support makes the world go around — CONNECTION
Unwillingness to help/ shame around asking for help possibly comes from a place of resentment?
Wild thought: what’s the happy medium/ middle ground??
Old person example…seek help before you want to burnt the house down (don’t stop learning)
Roller coaster, tension builds going UP, the cusp of “x”
Chris Stapleton “starting over” song
On starting over…things are going to be different, but different isn’t bad, the more you do it, the less adverse it is!
Change is CONSTANT
Fluidity is what allows us to grow and expand
Harder/ more energy to prevent change instead of welcoming it
Don’t box yourself in
It’s not anyone else’s job to predict our direction…(take ownership)
This time in the world is exciting!!
“We have the permission”…(what’s the permission we seek?)
Asking for help is the fertilizer for our growth
