  • #50 - We're Still The Step Brewers
With 50 episodes under our belt we knew it was time to be cutting edge, to refresh the show and bring it forward into the future. The 70's sitcom vibe was fun, but now is the time to be modern and technologically advanced.
    Welcome to the future.
To celebrate 50 episodes of Step Brewers Podcast we bring you one of our most popular guests of all time, Benny from Fox Friday, as well as bring you what our Patreon wanted to hear! The return of Big Questions, Brew or False and some special editions of classic segments.
Benny drops hot gossip on new releases, the Fox Friday Taproom and of course.....Juice Wolf and Ahab get rowdy as they always do when Benny is on show!
Cheers to the next 50, it's been a wild ride so far and we can't thank you all enough for listening and your on-going love and support!
    The future is bright.

As a bonus episode in the Time in Barrel series, as presented by Carwyn Cellars, we are joined by Ian and Shane of Future Mountain Brewing and Blending.
Bursting onto the scene only two years ago, it's hard not to be excited by the direction this brewery has taken.
With a strong focus on seasonality and farmhouse style offerings, Future Mountain captured the hearts of our audience last year, winning the People's Choice Steppie Award for Best New Brewery (tied with Molly Rose).
Shane and Ian talk about managing cultures, focussing on seasonality and beers they love from around the World, as well as their origin story and what's coming next.

  • #46 - Time In Barrel Series ft. Topher Boehm (Wildflower Brewing & Blending) Part 1
In the final brewer interview (for now) of our Time in Barrel series presented by Carwyn Cellars, we chat to Topher Boehm of Wildflower Brewing and Blending. We had always planned to punctuate this series with Topher on the show and when he said yes we were over the moon.
Split over two episodes, Topher drops the hot scoop on what's going in to those Wildflower cans, talks about Wildflower's brewing philosophy and NSW first approach to ingredients and some of the influences that got him to where he is today.
We all open a bottle on air of home-brewed "Easy Does It", produced using Wildflower yeast by The King in the North (Official Friend of the Show), while delving into how brewers, home and professional, can capture yeasts from native Australian flora.
Sit back, open up a bottle of Wildflower and enjoy. After all. It's just fucking beer.

  • #45 - Time In Barrel Series ft. Will Tatchell (Van Dieman Brewing)
In episode three of our Time in Barrel series presented by Carwyn Cellars, we chat to Will Tatchell of Van Dieman Brewing, from our very home state of Tasmania. Van Dieman are one of the OG's of the Tasmanian brewing scene, but in the spirit of continually developing and learning they have become part of a new wave of farm house and spontaneous brewers in Australia.
It's hard not to be caught up in the romance of a ground to glass brewery and the notion of growing grains for estate malting, picking hops fresh from the farm and creating spontaneous ales using a koelschip amongst the rolling hills of Evandale. Will delves into his process, what excites him and the difficulty of trying to wear many hats as a brewer and farmer. He also drops details on THREE brand new releases from Van Dieman, along with providing our Patreon members a very generous discount on his online store!

  • #43 - Time In Barrel Series ft. Ed & Fiona (Dollar Bill Brewing)
Here at Step Brewers we have a massive appreciation for those brewers in Australia paving the way in mixed culture, wild and dare we use the term, sour beers.
We wanted to dedicate a series of episodes to those brewers and also partner with the best in the game. We are extremely pleased to announce the new series, as presented by Carwyn Cellars, Time in Barrel!
Time in Barrel will be a deeper dive into our favourite breweries from around Australia who are producing these styles, what inspires them and where they see mixed culture and spontaneous beer going in Australia.
To round out the series we will be hosting a round table episode with Carwyn Cellars, diving into their thoughts on the Australian scene, the exciting bottles we see coming from overseas and maybe even reach into our respective cellars for the evening!
Welcome to Time in Barrel as Presented by Carwyn Cellars!
To kick off our new series Time in Barrel presented by Carwyn Cellars, we caught up with one of our favourite breweries in the country, Dollar Bill. Dollar Bill won our hearts in 2019 and won the Steppie Award for Best New Brewery. Ed and Fiona join us to talk mixed culture, their inspirations and what they are looking forward to releasing over the next few years. They also settle the age old debate that haunts us all...Biggie or Tupac?
