2020 is done, it’s over. We’re starting the new year with positivity so Jaydee, Mo, Ovie and BJ get going with celebrating a couple of legends that are still playing the game and breaking records. We start with Carmelo Anthony moving to 14th in the NBA’s all-time scoring list after passing Tim Duncan (02:32) and then we move on to man that Mo questions if he’ll ever slow down, LeBron James – who on his 36th birthday extended his streak of scoring 10+ points in 1000th consecutive games (06:21)!
In Hot Or Not we were forced to rewind back to last week’s debate after Steph Curry silenced the haters! He scored 62 points against the Blazers and Mo and Ovie had to have a little back and forth again on the point guard debate (12:31). Then the guys look at the 76ers and how they’re cooking something special; sitting pretty at the top of the Eastern Conference with only one loss from seven games. BJ is particularly impressed with how they’ve established themselves defensively (25:00). This season the final topic is always a viewer’s pick and this week’s is a good one – ‘Toronto will not make the playoffs!’ And it gets some backing. Ovie says outright that they won’t be making the playoffs this season (31:29).
In Off The Court we have the first player in our new OG Series. We take a look at Reggie Miller and how he helped transform the game in being one of the first stars to implement high volume 3-point shooting as a lead scorer (41:39).
The guys look at this weekend’s games in Primetime Preview and we start off with two bigs going up against each other in Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets face the Sixers this Saturday at 8pm on Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports Arena (48:59). Then on Sunday night from 9pm, we have our first ever Heatcheck Watchalong! Get involved and join the guys in watching Bulls @ Clippers on Sky Sports YouTube (55:08).
We then have a brief chat on how the Heatcheck Fantasy NBA is looking before we sign off (56:00), but there’s more after-show antics – Mo finally gets the answer he’s been craving from BJ – why would he choose Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry at the PG position (57:03)?
