On March 18th, 2018 Stephon Clark was shot and killed in his grandmothers backyard after officers allege they mistook his cell phone for a gun. Though the story received National media attention, there is a lot more to the case and the Clark family story than most people know. Stephon's grandmother Sequita, mother Sequette “Mama Clark” and brothers Jhai’Len and Stevante share who Stephon was and how the family made a name for themselves throughout the city of Sacramento, CA.

So, all of a sudden, I hear something go pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow. And I said, "Oh my God." I thought it was the neighbors. There's some apartments over here that's behind, they're called Coral Gables, and they always like shooting over there, these young people. So I jumped out on the floor and because the sound was getting closer, got out of that chair over there and came over here and pulled my granddaughter by her legs and said, "Cailyn, wake up. They're shooting outside. They're shooting." And she said, "What, Grandma?" I said, "Yeah, they're shooting. Lay down. We went all the way around to the bedroom on the floor, me and her. And I said, "Papa, they're shooting." He said, "Yeah." Then he said that he thought he heard somebody at the window, but I said, "Well, call the police. See what's going on.
