This is just a piggy back on the most recent episode in which I lamented on not getting 5 minutes stage time at the same open mic on two occasions,  and how I told you all I was done doing open mics in my current region.

Well, a little car ride to Home Depot and some time to think gave me a change of mind.

I have not thrown in the towel to doing comedy in my region. I just will not go back to that particular open mic.

Simple enough.

How is everybody's Tuesday going so far?

This is the final in the open mic blog series of winter 2023.  I am not done doing comedy, I just will not be doing live open mics in my region anymore. The region is giving me a message that I do not belong here.  And so, I take the message, and seek doors that are opened to me, not doors half shut  or closed.

Its all good, yes, this is a rant, but also a new beginning.

Just keeping my comedy chops sharp.  Not getting to the open mics much this week, life gets in the way sometimes. I just will not let it make me detour for years as I have had in the past, we only have today.  Let's live our lives for today, as best as we can.

Make the changes that we can today.

Open new doors to new possiblities

Take chances

Prioritize what is safe, sane, and healthy for us.

Be compassionate to others but do not lose oneself in the process.

In ths episode, I relate to you my experiences last night at an open mic which was at an art gallery.

I had a great time! what a diverse group of people and talents!

I learned my way a little more in the art of stand up  comedy, although I had a little bit of an adventure getting home as the train station was closed for repairs.

Hello All

This is a continuation of the open mic blog series.

Earlier tonight, I went to a great mic, what a great vibe in the room. Was a basement mic, all the better, I love that now.

I did not get to go up on stage but it's all good. I got to drink a couple, and make new friends, and support the performers as an audience members. In addition I got to know the MC's and they advised me to show up early next week and I will have a better shot at stage time.

On the spur of a moment, I made impromptu, almost cemented decision to attend a comedy open mic tonight.

And so, to break up the monotony a little, I am doing a pre-mic blog with my thoughts and feelings before the mic, rather than a post mic summary.

Folks, In this episode, we continue the  journey I share with you on my comedy open mic blog series.

Tonight I went to my second open mic in a week, this experience was not as good as the last open mic, I went in too overconfident and thinking that people would like me too much.

I got what I felt to be aloofness, silence and overall I felt like an outsider.

However, I cannot blame others, I must tweak my own ways,  and figure out what I am doing wrong here. 

I will not cower and run away and disappear, I will return and try again very soon.

I hope that everyone here at a very Happy New Year, or at least have plans to have a great new year!

Folks, in this episode I chronicle my first live comedy open mic in over a year and a half.

Now, this is nothing new over the sun, I have quit doing stand up comedy at least 5 times over the past decade and a half, however I never documented my experiences. I will attempt to cover this, perhaps on a weekly basis to  discuss what I am going through as I  attend these open mics. Overall, I am going to enjoy the journey this time and not be so focused on the end result. Enjoy the ride.
