In Mark 2 Jesus continues healing people as well as teaching. In verses 1-12 Jesus heals a paralytic. In verses 13-17 Jesus calls Levi, who is also Matthew. In verses 18-22 Jesus teaches on fasting. In verses 23-28 Jesus teaches on the sabbath.

In Leviticus 27 we close out the book relating to the Israelite priestly tribe of the Levites. We have instructions regarding the value of offerings.

In Mark 1 we notice that Mark jumps right into Jesus’ ministry. Mark begins with the baptism and then miracles. Though notice in Mark 1:35 Jesus takes time to be with His Father.

In Leviticus 26 we see blessings and curses. A principle element of a covenant document is blessings and curses. We see blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience.

In Matthew 28 we see the resurrection! This is so powerful! Imagine what this was like for the first readers. Put yourself in the shoes of the disciples.

In Leviticus 25 we have instructions regarding the year of the sabbath. This section is a sequel to Leviticus 23 which was about the Hebrew festal calendar. Verses 1-7 are about the year of the sabbath. In verses 8-12 it is about the year of jubilee. Verses 23-55 are about the laws of redemption. Within that section verses 35-46 are about kindness for poor brothers and verses 47-55 are about redeeming a poor man.

In Matthew 27 we see Jesus is crucified. This chapter is filled with activity. Judas hangs himself in verses 3-10. Jesus is delivered over to Pilate in verses 1-2 and verses 11-14 In verses 15-23 the crowds choose Barabbas. In verses 24-26 Pilate delivers Jesus to be crucified. In verses 27-31 Jesus is mocked. In verses 32-44 Jesus is crucified. In verses 45-56 Jesus dies. Notice in verses 51-54 we see strange events happen at His death. The temple veil was torn in two, from top to bottom. The temple veil was thick. I believe 4 inches or more. It was 60 feet high and 30 feet wide (ESV Study Bible). This was a big deal. The temple veil separated people from God. But in Jesus’ death we now have access to God. Notice the other events, the earthquake and the people brought back to life. The latter is only recorded in Matthew. It seems that when Jesus died there was a holy dose of resurrection power causing miracles to happen. There are extra-biblical references to strange events happing at this time. They are recorded in 1st century Jewish sources. In verses 57-61 Jesus is buried and in verses 62-66 Matthew records the guard at the tomb.

In Leviticus 24 Moses writes about their lamps and lamp oil in verses 1-4, then the bread of the tabernacle in verses 5-9. In verses 10-16 Moses instructs for blasphemy. Lastly, in verses 17-23 we have the “eye for an eye” instruction about justice.

In Matthew 26 we begin seeing the plot to kill Jesus. We are going through Holy Week and getting closer to Jesus’ crucifixion. In verses 1-5 Jesus warns them about His coming crucifixion. In verses 6-13 Jesus is anointed at Bethany. In verse 12 Jesus says this was in preparation for His burial. In verses 14-16 we see Judas’ betrayal. In verses 17-29 we have the Passover and the institution of the Passover. In verses 30-35 we see Jesus tells of Peter’s denial. In verses 36-46 Jesus prays at Gethsemane. In verses 47-56 we see Jesus’ betrayal and arrest. Starting in verse 57 Jesus is taken before Caiaphas and the council. Then in verses 69-75 Peter denies Jesus.

In Leviticus 23 we have instructions on holy times/seasons. This is about their worship. In verses 1-2 we have an introduction. In verse 3 he mentions the sabbath. In verses 4-8: the Passover, in verses 9-14 the Feast of firstfruits. In verses 15-22 we see the feast of weeks. In verses 23-25 we have the feast of trumpets. In verses 26-32 we have the Day of Atonement. In verses 33-44 we have the feast of booths.
