In Mark 12 we have more teaching in parables. Jesus teaches the parable of the tenants in verses 1-12. Within the parable of the tenants Jesus uses an Old Testament Scripture which is Psalm 118:22-23. The “stone” refers to the Messiah. “Builders” refers to the leaders of Israel. Jesus will be the cornerstone of the Messianic Kingdom. In verses 13-17 Jesus teaches on taxes. In verses 18-27 the Sadducees try to trap Him about the resurrection. The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection. In verses 28-34 Jesus teaches about the greatest commandment. In verses 35-44 Jesus gives more teaching. Notice the teaching on giving in verses 41-44. The usual teaching is that Jesus gave the widow credit for giving all she had. John MacArthur gave an interesting take on it. He thought Jesus made an example of how bad the system was that the religious leaders made her give of all she had.

In Numbers 10 we see instructions about the silver trumpets which were part of their battles and festival days as well. Starting in verse 11 we see the Israelites leave Sinai.

In Mark 11 we have Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Then, beginning in verse Jesus curses the fig tree. In verses 15-19 Jesus cleanses the temple. In verses 20-25 we see lessons from the now withered fig tree. In verses 26-33 Jesus’ authority is challenged.

In Numbers 9:1-5 we see them celebrate the Passover. This Passover is at Sinai. This is the first Passover which is celebrated as a remembrance. This is the second Passover, the first Passover was when they were about to leave Egypt and now this Passover is one year later. In verses 6-14 we see instructions for the delayed Passover. This is because some could not celebrate the Passover because of uncleanness. Remember we worship God and He is holy and how we worship Him must be in holiness. In verses 15-23 we see instructions about the cloud covering the Tabernacle. This cloud is God’s presence.

In Mark 10 we see Jesus teach on different subjects. He teaches on divorce in verses 1-12, children in verses 13-16, wealth in verses 17-31, His death and humility in verses 32-52.

In Numbers 8 we see instructions about the lampstand. Then in verses 5- 22 we see instructions about the cleansing of the Levites. This is important as the Levites are the priestly tribe offering up sacrifices for the people. God is holy and how we worship Him must be in holiness. In verses 23-26 we see the retirement of the Levites.

In Mark 9 we see the amazing passage of the transfiguration in verses 2-13. Then in verses 14-29 we see Jesus cast out a demon. We see a variety of other teachings.

In Numbers 7 we see the consecration, that means that setting apart, of the offerings and the tabernacle. We worship a holy God, a righteous God, and we must worship Him in holiness. Thankfully, Jesus has bridged the gap between us and God.

In Mark 8 we see many other miracles. Jesus feeds the 4000 in verses 1-10. In verses 11-12 the pharisees demand a sign. In verses 14-21 Jesus warns the disciples about the pharisees. In verses 21-26 Jesus heals a blind man. Peter confesses Christ in verses 27-29. The chapter ends with Jesus foretelling His death and resurrection.

In Number 6 we get into the Nazirite vow. Usually the Nazirite vow was temporary. However, Samuel and Sampson were both lifelong Nazirites.
