Still Got it

Our first ever discussion of Casper, with NOW EMMY WINNER Chrissy Shackelford. This one is from 2015 y'all! (So yes, the sound quality isn't as good and we talk over each other a little) but it's adorable to hear how far we've come and how we saw the world then. ...damn.

There is a LOT that could turn you off from this movie. The upsetting humor, the premise that players who kill themselves for our entertainment are being whiny pretty boys asking to be fairly compensated. But there is a lot of weird fun stuff in and around all the crap. It's a hard pill to swallow, but if you can--maybe the replacements ain't so bad?!

This had everything it needed to be a fun, sexy, intense, probably a lil campy and soapy, college thriller. Instead...we're not sure what happened, but we have a LOT of guesses. Producer, actor, and elite circles experience-haver Lila Claghorn joins the pod to crack this one open!

The soundtrack! The cheesy lines! The Big Game! Can Disney and Denzel solve racism in 2 hours? They sure thought so! In all seriousness though, 2/3 of the podcast LOVED rewatching this imperfect film. Writer and comedian Rob King joins Celey and Nora (who had never seen this before!).

How could a 3-hander romcom be a slow snoozefest? Mystic Pizza manages it! And yet, we're all hungry for pizza now and we're all in love w these 3 women especially Julia Roberts' hair! Writer and Connecticut-raised gal Kate Emswiler adds her expertise to this one!

In the realm of forgotten "oh yeah that WAS a movie" movies that slipped on into the aether, Summer Catch is a fascinating case study. Is it a romcom? Is it a sports movie? Who can say! Film buff and podcaster Nick Nordlinger joins Celey & Nora for a discussion of our 2001 cultural consciousness that FAR surpasses the awareness shown in this flick.

The only way to be a good step-parent is to be fired from your photography career that you definitely cannot be fired from because that's not how hiring talent works. But?! We love Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon falling in love because that IS what this (otherwise deeply flawed) movie is.
