  • Generac Roars, AutoNation Sinks, Ultragenyx Jumps on New FDA Approval

    On this episode of Stock Movers:

    • Generac (GNRC) agreed to supply up to $8 billion worth of generators for Amazon.com Inc.’s data centers and issued a warrant for a stake in the company, according to a securities filing Wednesday. Shares of the US maker of backup power generators surged as much as 32% on Thursday, the biggest intraday increase in more than 14 years. The stock traded 19% higher at $208.36 as of 11:40 a.m. in New York.
    • Shares of AutoNation (AN) dropped on Thursday, putting the stock on track for its worst decline since July 2023. A representative of the firm said at the Morgan Stanley Laguna Conference that customers are being more selective. 
    • Ultragenyx (RARE) shares jumped as much as 13%, the most intraday since June 30,after the firm got FDA approval for its gene therapy to treat pediatric patients with a rare inherited disease that progressively damages the brain and nervous system.

    •  Intel (INTC) shares rallied on word a tie-up with SK Hynix might be in the works. The South Korean memory chipmaker issued a statement on Wednesday after Reuters reported the company may potentially lease part of ‌Intel’s long-planned chipmaking facility in Ohio or form a venture with Intel and major cloud computing firms. SK Hynix said it hadn’t made a decision about a deal with Intel. Intel declined to comment on the Reuters report, but said it’s committed to its Ohio investments. The US chipmaker broke ground for its Ohio campus in 2022, but has slowed down the pace of work on the site. Last year, it pushed back the start of production to at least 2030.
    • SpaceX (SPCX) has held internal discussions about buying customer and operational information from troubled or defunct startups, according to people familiar with the matter, targeting a more affordable data source to improve its artificial intelligence models. The approach would mirror Google’s offer to purchase business data from Spirit Airlines for AI training purposes after the discount carrier wound down operations. The Alphabet Inc. company’s $10 million bid sparked some data privacy concerns, including from former flight attendants. Shares of the Elon Musk-led rocket company rose in trading on Thursday. 
    • Paramount-Skydance (PSKY) shares fell on word the US Justice Department is urging a federal judge to order that states and trade union challenging the media giant's $110 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery to post a bond to cover any potential late fees that result from their lawsuit. Paramount wants the states — led by California — and the Writers Guild of America to post a nearly $1.9 billion bond pending the outcome of their twin lawsuits, which are currently set for trial in March. The DOJ didn’t take a position on the size of the bond, but said federal law requires the states and the guild to pony up.

    • Generac (GNRC) shares rally as much as 32% on Thursday — the most intraday since 2012 — after the firm agreed to supply up to $8 billion worth of generators for Amazon’s data centers and issued a warrant for a stake in the company. The arrangement is the latest example of a tech giant striking a warrant-linked deal with a power equipment supplier to keep up with artificial intelligence-driven electricity demand. Oracle took a similar stake in fuel-cell maker Bloom Energy in April 2026.
    •  CoreWeave (CRWV) shares are down after the cloud-computing provider kicked off a fresh round of fundraising that includes a $3 billion convertible bond issue. It also agreed to an at-the-market offering program that allows it to sell as many as 35 million shares.
    • Securitize (SECZ) - a digital-securities platform that went public in early July through a blank-check merger — rose as much as 24% Thursday in New York after the SEC gave the green light for digital versions of stocks to start trading in the US. The plan could reshape traditional market structure after cryptocurrency legislation failed a key Senate vote earlier this week.
