  • Kioxia Drops, SK Hynix Falls, Kingdee Surges

    Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market.
    On this episode of Stock Movers:
    - Kioxia and Sandisk’s plan to spend more than ¥5 trillion ($31.4 billion) to boost chip production capacity is raising oversupply concerns that are likely weighing on the Tokyo-based company’s shares, according to Iwai Cosmo Securities. Kioxia shares fell 4.8% at the close of morning trading session in Tokyo. The tech-heavy Nikkei 225 meanwhile was up 0.8%.
    - SK Hynix is exploring ways to deepen its cooperation with Japanese customers and suppliers in the memory industry, Chief Executive Officer Kwak Noh-Jung said. Shares fell by as much as 4.7%
    - Kingdee rose as much as 11% as software stocks follow the huge move in the US in the wake of Nvidia's latest earnings announcement.

    Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market.

    - Nvidia (NVDA) the chipmaker at the heart of the artificial intelligence boom, projected sales growth of 70% for the next fiscal year, sending its shares on their biggest one-day rally since April 2025. Nvidia shares rose 8.7% to $227.98 in New York on Thursday, adding about $442 billion in market value. That left the stock up 22% for 2026. The upbeat outlook offered relief to investors concerned about a bubble in the AI economy. Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company, is the leading provider of AI accelerators, a key component for training and running artificial intelligence models. That status has turned its quarterly earnings into a barometer on the state of the wider industry.

    - Autodesk (ADSK) saw its shares fall in postmarket trading it released earnings that disappointed investors. 

    - Workday (WDAY) a maker of workplace management software, reported a measure of future sales that fell short of analysts’ projections, blunting recent momentum from Wall Street’s renewed enthusiasm for the software sector. The shares dipped about 6% in extended trading after closing at $193.57. The stock had gained 31% over the last month, though it remained down about 10% for the year.

    • Salesforce (CRM) jumped by the most in six years after the software company gave an outlook for strong revenue expansion and deepened its partnership with Anthropic PBC, reassuring investors that it can compete successfully in the AI era. The company also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic, the maker of the AI model Claude. It will integrate Salesforce’s products within Claude, allowing sellers to access information on their customers and sales cycles with the AI app.
    • HP (HP) shares are trading lower a day after earnings as investors look past a widely expected boost in the company's profit forecast and worry about the future demand for computers and printers. While PC unit revenue increased 18% in the fiscal third quarter, unit shipments dropped 16%, as sales were boosted by price increases even as demand for machines is hurt by the sticker shock. 
    • Wendy's (WEN) shares plunged today after Reuters reported that Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management currently has no plans to make a bid to take the fast-food chain private. Earlier in August, Wendy’s shares had jumped on a report that Trian was preparing an offer with other investors. The stock had previously risen 8.5% this year through Wednesday’s close.

  • Nvidia Rises, Salesforce Jumps, HP Falls on Investor Concerns About PC Demand

    - Nvidia (NVDA) shares rise. Nvidia Corp. said revenue will grow about 70% next fiscal year, outstripping analysts’ estimates for a 45% jump. The company's Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said Nvidia would grow faster if it had access to more supplies, and that customers' forecasts point to the company's growth doubling next year.

    - Salesforce (CRM) jumped after the software company gave an outlook for strong revenue expansion and deepened its partnership with Anthropic PBC. Sales will be about $11.5 billion in the fiscal third quarter, and current remaining performance obligations will increase about 14%.

    - HP (HPQ) shares fell after investors looked past a widely expected boost in the company’s profit forecast and worried about future demand for computers and printers.  Earnings, excluding items, will be 69 cents to 79 cents a share in the period ending in October, HP said.

The company estimated annual revenue of $5.99 billion to $6.01 billion, also ahead of estimates of $5.94 billion, and sales for the third quarter will be as high as $1.53 billion.

    - Wendy's (WEN) shares are plunging after Reuters reported that Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management has no plans to make a bid at this time to take the fast-food chain private.
