Part 3 49:30 Then we look further afield at what promises to be a long hard January, missing Tarryn as he jets of to the African Cup of Nations, and have a ponder on who we should be looking at in the transfer window. He has left big shoes to fill. With more details coming through about the new stadium development we have a chat about what it all means. November 23, 2023StonesCast Episode 48 - Nov 2023"You've got an opinion on things have you?" The renegade masters are back once again! Well maybe not. You're favourite Stones podcast is though. In this episode: Part 1 00:00 It's the customary review of recent games, a win at home against Dale and an ever so surprising defeat away at Halifax. We also discuss the departures of Jed Ward and Charlie Clayden. Part 2 31:35 Onwards with the previews as it's home to the cuckoos on Saturday, the away at Southend the week after, plus we look forwards to the FAT game against Riccay. Yes we are counting the days since our last cup victory but we're running out of fingers. Part 3 49:10 Have you heard the news? A new ground ya say? Much to mull over over this historic news and how do we feel about it all. Plus the programme editor shamelessly plugs this Saturdays edition and probably for good reason. Mark is back in the hot seat with Sud in chippy mood, River in full flow, and Bananas coming off the bench again....more1h 25minPlay
November 14, 2023StonesCast Special - The Amateur Years"Don't worry lads, we'll p!ss it!" There's fireworks in the air in this special edition of the cast when we welcome club legends of the amateur days Hugh Lyndsay and Charlie Townsend into the infamous Captains Lounge for a good old natter about the 60's. Part 1 00:00 The Athenian League years were halcyon days for the club and the chaps wax lyrical about them, in particular '66. Let's not mention someone literally smashing the FA Amateur Cup, or the fallout with Kingstonian for allegedly poaching their best player but nobody can forget that Stevenage game surely? Also how many players can claim to have represented England, and also have played against them too? Part 2 43:30 Then there's representing Great Britain in the Olympics on numerous occasions, Sir Stanley Rous stitching up our heroes chances of qualification, and how certain countries managed to get away with fielding professionals in their sides. Also there memoires of the brutal side of the game during that period. It was no place for shrinking violets! Part 3 1:10:25 It's the end of an era as the amateur game dissolves into semi-professionalism and that great 60's side begins to break up. Hughie goes to Hampton and ends up in all sorts of fun and games with Alan Simpson. It's a smashing episode about bygone days with two gentlemen with incredible memories. Tim let's them off the leash with Mick being on hand to correct his historical inaccuracies. ...more1h 31minPlay
October 27, 2023StonesCast Episode 47 - October 2023"To prove that theory totally wrong..." Part 1 00:00 We're back to normality after our last exclusive cast with Stu, and first off the bat we talk about the previous episode and a few of the points raised. No, we don't really edit the casts OK?Then it's the disappointment of the inevitable FA Cup exit, the televised damp squib against Wood, and the return to form against Oxford under the lights. Part 2 43:50 It's Solihull away on Saturday so that's to look forwards to, well the burgers and pies anyway, and a fortnight after that It's Rochdale at home. Nothing happens the week in between. Move on, nothing to see here... Third of the way through the season, who are the disappointments and who's doing the do? Short corners. Love them or hate them? Mark is holding court with Ex-Busmeister Dave, Statto Leo and the only sensible voice in proceedings Matt chipping in....more1h 11minPlay
October 12, 2023StonesCast Episode 46 - October 2023"A tea bag has stayed in the cup longer than we have!" Well well, do we have a treat of an episode for you this time? Not only do we have 4 regular faces and a newbie on, but our humble podcast has been graced by the presence of club first team manager Stuart Maynard. And what's more, he's got a lot to talk about! Part 1 00:00 After the schenanigans last Saturday at full time in Kiddy, there's a lot of things to chew over. So as not spoil to the episode we won't tell you what's said we'll just let you find out. And besides that we've also got the games at home to Oldham and away at Gateshead to look back at. Then with the departure of Fela still ringing in our ears the touchy subject of strikers is addressed, and what Stu is trying to do when he talks about "developing the overloads". Part 2 1:10:00 With several strong clubs currently struggling down in the bottom half of the table, is Stu worried that we'll be dragged into a relegation zone fight when they inevitably hit their expected form? Then we're onto Saturday and the lure of the FA Cup away at Bromley, and Stu is acutely aware of our recent record in that competition and it's something that's needs to be sorted to say the least! Yes, we'd take a draw Saturday! And not forgetting the week after we've got Wood at home in front of the telly cameras followed by Oxford to look forwards to. We close with usual AoB nonsense. As we've heard in the past, Stu is candid when asked a straight question, and tonight is no different. This episode is bound to spark debate, and that's never a bad thing when you can do it without resorting to insults or rudeness. Perhaps a lesson a few people have learnt in the last week, or if not, hopefully will learn soon. Hillsy has the hot seat, with a debut for Wing Commander Ranos sharing the main stage with Rob, McMiserable and Bappo struggling to get a word in edgeways!...more1h 50minPlay

Part 2 49:00 Then it's onto previewing the upcoming fixtures against Oldham, Gateshead and Kidderminster, and the highly anticipated FA Cup 4th Qualifier which will probably be against a really bang easy team with the inevitable outcome, and dreams of another big run in the Trophy. September 15, 2023StonesCast Episode 44 - September 2023"It's November the 19th lads..."Well have we got a humdinger this time. A cracking episode awaits your ears, so let's drive in! Part 1 00:00 Off the bat we look at Chairman Rory's recent statement in the award winning programme, what's going on with the clubs long term future of the club, and how we are run prudently compared to some of our peers. Part 2 12:25 Next we laud the Supporters club for all their efforts, including a recent £10K donation to the club, and celebrate the return of the Megastore this Saturday. Part 4 01:15:40 And finally, we ask ourselves the question about the cast, what's too short and what's too long. Then we pay our tribute to Alan Couch on the sad news of his passing on Thursday. August 31, 2023StonesCast Episode 43 - August 2023"Arthur Howler..."The boys are back with a pint sized edition of the cast. In this episode:Part 1 00:00There's much grumbling and grinding of teeth over the recent defeats against Shots and Daggers, as we chew over the bones of those two games. What do we do with a keeper who promises so much, but currently seems to be carrying round more clangers than a bell ringers convention, and a forwards line that don't appear to be able to hit hit a cows arse with a banjo? For some reason the epic victory against Fylde seems to have been forgotten about, which is a bit odd considering the nature of the victory. And we also have a bit of a look forwards to Hartlepool and Ebbsfleet as they hove into view on the horizon.Part 2 31:50Now the games have been put to bed we turn our minds to other earth shatteringly important matters. Are we witnessing the slow death of the matchday programme? What are our striking options going forwards? And in a new apex of football fan buffoonery (a department where the bar has already been set pretty high) the boys discuss whether getting pensioners in on the coaching staff is the answer to our goal scoring woes. Yes, the boys were temporarily stunned into silence with this suggestion too. You'll never guess who suggested it either. But worry ye not, there's plenty of sensible debate in this episode to offset the stupidity. Tim returns to the hosts hot seat and is ably assisted by Jez, Hillsy and McMiserable....more51minPlay
