There's Eastleigh at Home and how well the pitch held up in testing conditions, and how badly the stream didn't.Then it's our continuing disasterous cup record being dumped out of the Trophy at Chelmsford and the Yuletide double header with our chums from Maidenhead. We look at our performance over the last 22 fixtures and how we think the season will pan out. Then it's all about the (two horse) title race and why we think the destination of the trophy has changed since pre-season. Santa hats are not compulsory. All this and loads more in a feature packed episode, even if some of the cast have absolutely no sense of direction whatsoever!...more1h 8minPlay
December 04, 2022StonesCast Episode 30 - December 2022"We may as well have built a playground in the centre of midfield..."It's the morning after the day before, and there's sore heads in the Stonescast house following yesterdays trip to HA8.In the latest edition of your ever so favourite Wealdstone podcast...Part 1 00:00We start with a review of our day trip to York where each member has a completely different recollection of events, be that due to imbibement, or travel calamities. Then Scunny at home and the crest of a wave of results on the pitch.Part 2 26:55Then we dedicate a whole section to our trip to B*rn*t where obviously nothing important happened, and we didn't spend 23 minutes discussing it, and Frankers doesn't have a minor meltdown.Part 3 49:25Preview of the upcoming fixtures away at Bromley in the League and the tough tie ahead of us at Chelmsford in the Trophy.Part 4 1:16:00And with our finger on the absolute pulse of non-league football (what with the information that was posted online today) the contentious subject of live streaming comes very much into sharp focus with the National Leagues plans. We are not amused!Plus the usual nonsense and everything else.Paul is in the chair in full desk banging mode with Chris, Mark and Sudhir giving us their opinions.Note: The coughing in this episode was off the scale (11 for goodness sake!) and despite our best efforts we couldn't erase them all, so sorry for the "jump scares"....more1h 34minPlay

Should we be worried that we haven't scored a first half goal since September, and the midfield conundrum the MT face with a fully fit and available squad on their hands.Part 4 57:40And finally, the question of atmosphere - or lack of it - at home games. Why with crowds growing, do we find it to be dropping off, and what can we do about it.Plus we look back at a historic 20th Anniversary for our own Adam, and just imagine how things might have turned differently for him were it not for a footballing fork in the road. And all the usual gibberish and blabber you know and love us for! October 12, 2022StonesCast Episode 27 - October 2022"We'll edit it down to five minutes..."Welcome to the next episode of the cast, and if we're being honest this might be one that takes two bites of the cherry to get through. Is it a bumper one? Oh, yessiree it is!Mark is back in the chair, ably assisted by wingman Chris and we have two newbies along as guests, Chris Woods - the clubs media head honcho, and Pete Worby - long term fan and former "has done virtually every job at the club" hero.Part 1 00:00We meet Chris and here all about his background and what the media team are up to in the background.Part 2 08:20Pete takes the baton, and runs with it!50+ years following the club, and in direct involvement with its running since 1982 in one way shape or form. Peter has been in some way involved at an official capacity in some of the biggest events that the club has been through in the last 40 years culminating in becoming Vice Chairman, and being one of the "Fantastic Four" who were instrumental in finally bringing us home to the Vale. He has a LOT of stories, and tells most of them here! Even if you think you know everything about this period of the clubs history you are sure to learn something new.Part 3 38:20To the nuts and bolt, we look back at the games at Aldershot (A), Solihull (A) and Wood (H) Part 4 1:07:15We preview the upcoming FA Cup trip this Saturday away at Wood (and why just for once why we can perhaps be a little more optimistic about a run in the cup), then the following league fixtures at Dorking (A), Notts (H) and Daggers (A). October 09, 2022Stonescast EXTRA! with Darren Linden16 months ago, a chap with big ideas, bright eyed and bushy tailed, was brought onto the WFC Executive Board to drive our engagement. That gentlemans name was Darren Linden, and before he'd even got his feet under the table at the club we kidnapped him and forced him to appear on the cast and tell us all about what the role entailed (episode 3 and 3 Quarters if you want to go back and listen to it again).Darren kindly offered to come back a year or so later and tell us all about what's been going on behind the scenes over that period, and give the fans an exclusive expose of what goes on behind the mighty oak doors of the Boardroom. Ok, the slightly flimsy glass panelled doors of the Aquarium Bar if we're being truthful about this. This is an excellent episode where Darren is his usual open and informative self and we just haven't got the space to shoehorn everything we talked about into the episode description. Rest assured though it's chock full of content and he answers many of the questions that our listeners and Stones fans seem to be regularly asking. It's Adam and Sudhir that have him on the rack early on a Sunday morning down at the Vale, and there's sure to be something in here that will open your eyes or surprise you.We should also at this point thank Watford Women FC for gracefully allowing us to record whilst they were doing their pre-match preparation today, so please forgive us any background hub-bub on the recording!Pt 1 00:00Reflection on the last year. We've done well with youth engagement and increasing those numbers, but are we losing the 30 Something fans? Some interesting thoughts on the finances come out as well.Pt 2 20:10How much of an impact the club has been making in the community, and why that's so important. Also we're really pushing back into engaging with schools in Harrow and perhaps are a bigger draw than a certain "other club" in the area. The challenges ahead of us and a positive "new step culture". The "Sutton Model" is one we can definitely reference, whereas that's probably not the case of the other clubs in our division. We're unique so that's why we have to have a unique plan going forward that will work for us.What do we do if we don't get a new lease that works for us?Pt3 57:45The Management Team, and why they're not going anywhere! However, does the Board have a succession plan in place for the time that their dream job does come knocking, with the money available to be able to spirit them away from our arms (God forbid!).Darren finally explains in black and white how we calculate our attendances!Absolutely full to the brim of super duper content just for your ears!...more1h 19minPlay
September 27, 2022StonesCast Episode 26 - Sept 2022"I probably don't want to give this much airtime BUT..."We're back with a brand new episode that's going to sneak into your eardrums like a fox getting home from a long night out with his mates, who's trying hard not to wake his vixen up.In Part 1 00:00 we meet new guest caster Dave Leech and hear about his Stones backstory. Then we have a quick chat about the Managers Q&A session after the game on Saturday and worry about other clubs coming in and trying to spirit our lovely boys away from our loving embrace.Part 2 13:55 It's review time, looking back at the last 3 games against Maidstone (A), Torquay (H) and Southend (H). We were feeling confident at getting a few points out of these only a couple of weeks ago, so why didn't they materialize?Part 3 38:45 Those pesky Officials! Why are they so bad? Also why are they also so bad even when they've got some big decisions right? Once we've put that World to rights it's a question of atmosphere, or more like lack of it. Did someone mention a drum?Part 4 56:00 We preview the upcoming games against Aldershot, Solihull and Wood. Are we as confident as we were last time? Then the Elephant in the room of the impeding embarrassing exit from the FA Cup and touch upon the ongoing "Streaming Saga" and the change in the highlights embargo from the National League.A super scorhio! episode hosted by Adam, with Dave (the one who used to be a referee don'tcha know) , Sudhir (who supposedly used to be a goalkeeper in a previous life) and new guest Dave (the one who most certainly wasn't either a ref or keeper in the past and makes more sense than either of the other two)....more1h 16minPlay
September 12, 2022StonesCast Episode 25 - September 2022"This reactionary nonsense you get..."And (after an un-forseen break) we're back in the room!7 games in and we're still in the playoffs. Halcyon days indeed! In this episode:Part 1 00:00In traditional fashion we delve into guest caster Andy Stones backstory, and review, err, well Woking at home in front of the telly cameras.Part 2 15:20Looking forwards to Maidstone (A) and Torquay and Southend (H). And goodness the positivity is oozing out of the boys here. Are we really now looking at game like these as genuinely "winnable"?Part 3 44:30Is now the time to re-evaluate where we think we will end up finishing? With the way we're playing is "anything above fourth from bottom" being a bit defeatist? Where do we think we are in the NL pecking order?Part 4 58:20With recent events, was it right to call off last weekends football fixtures when numerous other events carried on regardless? Then we ponder the quite strong possibility that the home game against Southend could be a record league crowd for us at the Vale. How the times have changed since we first moved in huh?And all the usual guff and stuff.Paul hogs the question masters chair, with sensible, level headed opinions from Leo, Jez and virgin caster Andy.Yes, we said level headed! As always, do let us know what you think and any subjects you'd like us to discuss in future episodes on Twitter - @Stonescast85...more1h 14minPlay
August 31, 2022StonesCast Episode 24 - August 2022"I underwhelmed it did I?"We're back with a new bumper edition! Lots to discuss in the latest show.Part 1 00:00We do our usual introduction, and welcome new inductee Will to the cast, find out about his media activities and all about his affinity to home town club Woking.Part 2 08:30It's review time, looking back at Halifax (H), Gateshead (A) and Yeovil (H). There's a sense of confidence in the squad with the additions over the close season that perhaps wasn't there in pre-season. Also, those flaming National League match day officials huh? Plus Guvnor is disappointed in missing one of the best goals we've ever scored apparently because of twitter.Part 3 52:30The preview section. It's Woking (H) in front of the Telly cameras on Sunday, and we have the lowdown on them from Will, our inside source. Then the trip to Greater Manchester for Altricham (A) - a proper non-league awayday to the former top dogs. Plus are we likely to be getting a couple more loanees in over the next couple of weeks? The boys seem to thing so.Part 4 1:18:30The spectre of the dreaded "Live Streaming" is back in the news. The boys have different opinions on the pros and cons of the proposal.Mark is back in hot seat for this week with as always level headed debate from Gordon and Chris, and a fresh view on things from Will.As always we'd love to hear your feedback on twitter - @Stonescast85...more1h 32minPlay
