Data allows us to be involved in stories much larger than ourselves from the front end of a computer. As an ex-audio engineer who used to tour the country in a glorified van for a living, this is really appealing! My goal in life is to help those who need it, and while I try my best to do that on a micro-scale everyday, the potential that global data has to put that ability on a macro-scale is what excites me the most!

I work in financial planning and analysis and attended the Data Analytics bootcamp at Nashville Software School to acquire new programming skills in Python and SQL. My goal was to become more proficient at automating the repetitive tasks associated with month-end close and financial forecasting and create more time for strategic planning. I also wanted to strengthen my data visualization skills, learn how to tell a story with numbers, and isolate the critical facts. Combining skills in data analytics with my business background will help me translate business problems into requirements that guide the design of a solution.

Understanding the significance and importance of data to a business is very important. Problem solving has always been a passion of mine and with the world of big data growing exponentially it is important to have the necessary skills to dissect, communicate, and help businesses understand their data. I will use my skills to help dig into any data problem and bring necessary value to the cause.

I graduated from Lipscomb University in 2017 with a degree in Business Administration, and have worked in the retirement planning industry for several years. I'm a naturally curious person with a passion for problem solving and learning, so becoming an analyst where I'm required to answer complex questions and learn new tools is my dream.
