I started coding in 2018 when one of my students introduced CSS and JavaScript to me. It was that moment that I fell in love with programming and knew I wanted to be a developer. My current strength is building out front-end applications. I enjoy using React, APIs, and Sass to create robust and aesthetically pleasing applications. Also, I love API development, wireframing, and working with SQL to build databases. Furthermore, I would consider myself a lifelong learner. New technologies and skills are always available. This excites me because I know that it will always be something or someone I can learn from and grow.

My 7-year career as a Technical Recruiter has allowed me to peek into the world of software development and has ultimately allowed me to realize I genuinely enjoy the challenges and victories it presents. I was introduced to HTML as a Clinical Information Designer while performing acceptance testing during the project development period, functional testing projects to confirm search results are working correctly, and designing content in the application with the end user in mind. Being able to create a product from start to finish and seeing the end result sparked my interest in becoming a developer.

After taking a few online coding courses, I moved to Nashville a year ago in order to expand my dev education at NSS. This transition has helped combine my analytical based background as a Digital Marketing Analyst, my creativity as a guitarist, and curiosity about what makes software tick, to pursue career as a Software Developer.

In 2018 I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Molecular Biology, fully intent on pursuing further education in medicine or health research. However, after exposure to design and data visualizations in MATLAB and R in my research endeavors, I was captivated by the opportunity to design and create that programming afforded and research seemingly lacked. I then enrolled in Nashville Software School with goal to develop the skills that would allow me to develop and contribute to meaningful, engaging software products.
