Story Archives, a TV and Film Podcast

Tune into this weeks Bonus Mailbag episode for our ‘Silo’ Apple TV Podcast Series. This week we unpacked the mailbag from episode nine of ‘Silo’ and responded on air to emails from our loyal listeners out there on several topics ranging from: Silo fan theories and unanswered questions, where Juliette goes to from here and who can she rely on, the birds on the outside, Bernard’s lapel, and even a tidbit about our other series on Foundation (also on Apple TV).

Here’s the binary breakdown. Computers count in only ones and zeros. So, to count to two, a computer “thinks” about it as 10. Typically, each unit of data is a byte that’s made up of eight bits that are often represented like: 00000000. You count up by adding from right to left. The last or eighth digit is ones, the second to last is twos, the third to last is fours, the fourth last is eights, the fifth last is 16s, the sixth last is 32s, the seventh last is 64s, and the first digit is 128s. All of those can only be a one or a zero. That means that one is 00000001, two is 00000010, three is 00000011, four is 00000100, and so on. The binary on Allison’s notes would be expressed as 00010010. That’s zero 128s, 64s, or 32s, but one 16. There are also no eights or fours, but a two, and no one. That gives us 16 and two, which adds up to (you guessed it!) 18.

On this week’s Story Archive’s instant reaction episode, we breakdown Season 1, Episode 9 of Silo on Apple TV, titled ‘The Getaway’. The episode starts with a bang (quite literally) with Juliette on the run from Sims and his goons. All of the powers of Judicial and Janitorial are working together to apprehend the Sheriff on the run, while Juliette tries her best to see what’s inside the hard drive. Meanwhile, Sim’s family gets an unexpected surprise and we learn about a mysterious key fob labeled with the number ’18’ that seems to be concerning Bernard to an extreme degree. What’s on the hard drive? Will Juliette find out or will she get caught? What the hell is the meaning behind Bernard’s key fob and why is it blinking red?! What’s going to happen to happen with Billings now that he’s seen the Georgia Travel Guide and what was on the page he ripped out of it? Find out (some) of the answers to these questions by tuning into this week’s episode of Silo, by Story Archives.
