Storyverse Podcast

As we prepare our hearts for Easter, we will be moving through a mini-series called, "Creation and the Cross." One of the main emphasis of Storyverse Ministries is to help people connect the story of Scripture to the story of Jesus. Throughout this series we will be looking at subtle moments and details in the passion week, the cross, and the resurrection and connect them back to the creation account in Genesis. Each day there will be a 5-10 minute podcast designed to help you remember and reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus. So join us as we journey together from creation to the cross.

• Sunday, March 24 - The True King, the Triumphal Entry, and the Temple

Exodus 5-11.

The exodus event is a spectacle of God's love and strength. He is loving enough to want to save his people and strong enough to do so. God goes through great lengths to reveal these two aspects of himself. In this episode, we look at the beginning of the exodus event and see the strength and love of God combine as he frees his people from slavery. This same strength and love is seen all the more fully with Jesus on the cross as God saves us from our own sin and slavery.

Exodus 3-4.

What excuses do you bring to God? When God calls Moses to be a part of his plan, Moses actually gives God 5 excuses to why he isn't the right man for the job. The core of these excuses shed light on why we often say no to God when God is calling us to take part in something amazing.

Exodus 1-2.

Do you feel seen, heard, noticed? At the beginning of the Exodus account, God's people are in harsh slavery in Egypt. In this episode, we look at what God does when his people are hurting. God sees, hears, remembers, knows, and ultimately moves towards us as we cry out to him.

Genesis 37-50.

What do you do when life doesn't go your way? In the life of Joseph we see how God sanctifies us when our situation isn't what you expected. These sovereign strange turns are actually what God uses to shape and mold us into who he desires us to be. When we cannot trace his hand, we can trust his heart.

Genesis 25-36.

What does God do when we keep going back to our same patterns of sin? In this episode we will be looking at the life of Jacob. Jacob went from a deceiver (to get from God) to a receiver (of the gift of God). The hope of this episode is for us to see what God does with someone who keeps trying to live life on their own terms. Will God bless a liar and a deceiver?

Genesis 22.

What does true trust look like? Looking at the climax of the Abraham story, we see God testing Abraham with the (near) sacrifice of Isaac. At this point in the journey, Abraham has been walking with God for years and is clearly a changed man. But what does he (and we) do when God ask us to do the hardest of all things? Will we trust him even when what he asks does not make sense? The hope of this episode is for us to see the heart and character of God, who ultimately makes the greatest sacrifice on our behalf in his Son, Jesus.

Genesis 12, 15, 17.

God is a promise making and promise keeping God. But what do we do in the gap between promises made and promises kept? In this episode we look more deeply at the promise God made to Abraham, known as the Abrahamic Covenant. In it, we will see how this promise of God becomes one of the most predominant themes throughout your Bible and even into eternity. The hope of this episode is for us to see God as the promise keeping God he is as we continue to trust the final fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham in Christ.

Genesis 12-25.

The journey of faith is not a straight shot of perfection. It is a slow steady journey of progress over time. In this episode, we look at the life of Abraham from start to finish. Throughout his life, Abraham is marked by both faith and doubt, successes and sins, joys and pains. Abraham's life is a model of how to grow in trust and live by faith (and what happens when you don't). It takes time and the choice to continually trust in God no matter the situation.

Genesis 12.

Out of the chaos of Babel, God selects one individual to bless in order to bless the world. God's heart is to create a new family that will dwell with him in a new Eden type environment forever. This seemingly small moment lays the foundation for the rest of the story of Scripture (and your own story as well!).
