How do we know when it's time to bring in help in our business? As solopreneurs, a lot of us start off doing everything ourselves. Marketing, email management, website maintenance. You name it and it's us doing it. But more often than not, in order to grow, we have to start adding people to our team that frees up time to work on those CEO activities that actually make businesses grow.

One of the best ways to feel less stressed in business is to create business systems and processes that allow our business to be more streamlined, more productive, and ultimately, more profitable. When we are able to streamline and create systems in our business, a huge portion of our business is allowed to run without supervision and we take the time to do that CEO work which allows us to grow our business. Having the right business systems allows us to do things in the most effective and efficient way based on whatever our business goals are. And it just helps us work smarter, not harder.

In Hot Seat episodes, I'm talking to real business owners and taking a deep dive into their business struggles. In this episode, I'm talking with Faith, owner of Stressed Out Mamas.Faith is fairly new in her business journey and has been struggling with having the confidence to market her subscriptions boxes and collaborate with other brands.
Faith is a mom to 5 (!!!) and started Stressed Out Mamas to help mothers remember how much value they have. We all know that pouring from an empty cup does not work although it's unfortunately what a lot of moms are doing. Her monthly subscription boxes are curated with locally Canadian-made items. Each box has a different theme to help moms navigate through motherhood.

How many of you have taken on a new client without a contract because you thought you didn't need one? Did you later regret it? You're not alone. But the fact remains that contracts are a necessary party of business. Contracts are even more important in the creative industry where a lot of things can be left up to subjective interpretations. If you're looking to get a basic contract for your creative business, here are some things you need to include. Disclaimer - I am not a lawyer and none of this post should be taken as legal advice. When it comes to starting a business, a lot of folks make the mistake of having a target audience that's too broad. And I get it. We often think that the way to make money in business is to sell our product or service to everyone. But let me fill you in on why that's not really right. When we have too broad of an audience we end up trying to market to everyone, which translates into marketing for no one. People have varied interests and needs and different reasons for purchasing something. By niching down, you'll be able to focus on your messaging and why you're the best person to purchase from.

So you have a hobby that you're really good at. All your friends and family think you should turn that hobby into a business. In fact, you've probably heard all over social media how you need a side hustle and "multiple streams of income". But you genuinely don't know the first thing about running a business or if what you're doing makes a good business idea. There are (obviously) differences between running a business and having a hobby. And truthfully speaking, not every hobby needs to be a business - despite what your family and friends may think. Let's talk about the things you need to be thinking about if you're wondering if you should turn that hobby of yours into a money-making empire.

Social media alone is not a marketing strategy! There are other ways that you should be using to market your business and reach potential clients and customers. This week I wanted to get into funnels - what exactly they are and why you need one. A lot of business owners are pretty clueless when it comes to setting up funnels that convert for their businesses. A good funnel is going to provide value for potential clients and encourage them to make a purchase.

Social media alone is not a marketing strategy! There are other ways that you should be using to market your business and reach potential clients and customers. This week, I want to dive into email marketing. As a business owner, you’ve probably heard time and time again how important having an email list is. When it comes to our businesses, the only thing we own is our websites and our email lists. While social media platforms can (and often do) change their algorithms, emails allow us to speak directly to current and potential clients. If you haven’t started an email list yet, here's why you should.
