As a little Labor Day weekend treat I thought I'd put together a quick little bonus episode of Jared and Bruce and I talking about theaters reopening, along with assorted stray thoughts about a random assortment of other things.
If you've heard the show before, you know the kind of tangents we go off on, and if you don't know the show, well, we hope you like what you hear and go on back into the archives and check out our previous shows.
Just to be Nominated is hosted and produced by Chris Lay, the podcast operations manager for Lee, along with Bruce Miller, the editor of the Sioux City Journal, and Jared McNett, a reporter for the Globe Gazette in Mason City, Iowa.

Last time you heard from us, we rounded up some of our favorite movies that have a game aspect to them.
This week, we each set out to identify the best movie year of the past two decades and then defend our decision with five movies from that year.
Listen all the way to the end to hear Jared and Chris get blindsided by some unexpected hot takes from Bruce about a particular Mark Wahlberg movie!
Sadly, and here's a spoiler warning I guess, but none of us picked 2007 and thus this week there is no talk about BEE MOVIE, the 2007 computer-animated comedy starring Jerry Seinfeld and Renée Zellweger.

Last time you heard from us, we attempted to assemble a collection of movies that paint a well-rounded picture of America.
This week, for reasons that are still kind of unclear, we explored movies that have a game aspect to them. Video games, board games, hunger games, game shows... all the games!
If you listen all the way to the end you'll be treated to a completely off topic discussion about BEE MOVIE, the 2007 computer-animated comedy starring Jerry Seinfeld and Renée Zellweger that arguably should not exist.

Last time you heard from us, we picked out some of our favorite films and shows on the new HBO streaming platform HBO Max.
For this episode, which we recorded on the Monday after Independence Day weekend, we attempted to assemble a collection of movies that paint a well-rounded picture of America.
Listen all the way to the end and you'll hear our unexpected recommendations for ridiculous new game shows!

Last time you heard from us, we were sharing some of our favorite "movies based on TV shows" since there were some renewed rumors floating around about a Community movie.
For this episode, recorded right before the Memorial Day weekend, wanted to chat about some of our favorite summer blockbusters.

Last time you heard from us, we (Bruce Miller, Jared McNett and myself Chris Lay) were sharing some of our favorite "sports movies" since for all intents and purposes no one really knows when we'll be able to actually get out there and root for some teams to compete against each other in... any fashion whatsoever.
This time out, since rumors of a Community movie are bubbling up to the surface again, we thought we'd run down some of the best movies that are based on TV shows.
Below are some links that will take you to where you can stream all the movies we talked about.

Last time out Bruce, Jared and Chris took a deep dive into some of our favorite "Comfort Movies" and for this episode we were thinking about things we're all going to miss out on thanks to our current state of quarantine and decoded to followed that up with a look at some Sports-centric fare.
The episode cuts off at the end due to some technical problems, but the full list (along with links to where you can watch them online) is below:

It's been two weeks since our last episode, and in that time things have obviously... happened. Onward comes out this weekend, so Bruce, Jared, and Chris are talking about all things Pixar, including their favorite films from the studio, which one-off movies should get sequels, and whether or not the Academy will ever award an animated film a Best Picture Oscar among other things.
You can find Bruce's review of Onward here.
Also at the end of their conversation, Chris chats with Jason Dean, a self-described “digital guy” for madison.com who, for over a decade now, has been organizing DUFF, the Digital Ubiquitous Film Festival, that every one of our listeners can take part in right from the comfort of their own couch regardless of whichever state they live in.
We'd love if you could leave us a review or tell your friends if you like what you're hearing. Thanks again and we'll see you back here in a couple of weeks!
