How do we have an invigorating spiritual life in the midst of a declining culture? As Timothy faced great challenges, Paul's message is one of clarity and encouragement to strengthen himself. Just as Timothy would have seen how God used the weak to do His work and show His strength, we can also be strong in our weakness; this is God's grace at work. Each generation passes the baton to the next generation, and to have something to pass on, we must remain faithful and endure hardship. Like a soldier, my life is not my own. This is a call to be strong in grace to be a blessing to others.
