Dopamine is a naturally occurring “feel-good” chemical that triggers our inner rewards system. It's normally released when we eat delicious food, have sex, and — crucially — when we take addictive drugs. Social media also mimics human connection, prompting dopamine release when we get likes and comments on our posts. Whether it's a day, a week, or a month, a social media detox is highly recommended by psychologists, as it is scientifically proven to enhance mental performance and make you feel happier. On today's episode, Tony Wechsler discusses Dopamine Detox with Jessica Godshall. You may remember Jess from her previous appearances where she discussed topics such as the importance of Self Care. If you check your phone multiple times a day for your social media feed, you'll want to hear this episode.
