Raising kids can be difficult, but when your child is created to be very different than yourself, it can be even more difficult. For example, if you as a dad are athletic, into sports, enjoy doing things with your hands, but your child is not interested in athletics at all. Maybe they are interested in video games and staying inside living a more sedentary life. The question is, how to you father this child well?
In this show, Kyle and Hutch discuss how you go about being the best father for all of your children whether they are wired like you or not. We would love to have our kids conform to our ways of approaching life, but the reality is, God made them different, and different for a reason!
As fathers, we are the adults in this situation. We are called to adapt and accept our child for who God designed them to be. It is only the selfish man that can't understand that he must put the differences aside and work to raise the best individual possible.
The differences between father and child can be subtle or significant. Those are not the focus. The focus is on the similarities. What do you have in common with your child? This is where the connection of parenting is made and grown. Whether it is a common activity, interest, sense of humor, or simply that you are both a child of God, this is what we build from.
Listen more to see what you can do to be the best Strong Dad for your child.
