[In 1975, the South Vietnamese government fell to the Communists and thousands of Vietnamese fled to the United States. In my paper, I have outlined how these refugees were able to combat the struggles of relocating to a new country with a new culture through maintaining their communities. Their issues included learning a new language in a short period of time, assimilating into the American culture, and essentially starting their careers over. They were able to achieve some success because of their efforts to stay connected to each other which was aided by the local governments, the federal government, and voluntary resettlement agencies.]
