After the attack of Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, the United States immediately entered World War II. As men left behind their jobs to fight, women were encouraged to join the defense plants on the home front. The largest increase of women industrial laborers was in the aircraft industry. This helped temporarily break social and economic norms on the home front, by proving that women are capable of doing the same jobs as men. Ultimately, through patriotism, hard work, and determination, these women paved the way for women’s equality rights for future women.
