Study in Prayer

Scripture For Today:

Sometimes, somebody will ask me a question, something to the effect of, “Why is God allowing all of this evil in the world?” or “Why can’t God do something about Satan being the god of this world?”

But the point I’ve been trying to make these last few days is that God can’t just destroy Satan as the god of this world because ADAM made a legal transaction with Satan when he disobeyed God. At that point, Adam forfeited his dominion and authority as God’s agent in this world. Satan was now it!  

That is why God just can’t unilaterally make a sweeping pronouncement and do away with the devil and cure all of the world’s ills. He is NOT the god of this world. Satan is! He is the legal god of this world through Adam’s default.

And, if God could just sovereignly cure all of the world’s ills, then God could have intervened back in the Garden of Eden and stopped Adam from disobeying Him. But, ADAM HAD A CHOICE. Adam had his own free will. Adam CHOOSE to sell out his authority on earth to Satan by his willful disobedience to God.

God could not stop his act or his free will. That’s why God could not just move in and destroy Satan’s authority on earth once Adam committed that authority into Satan’s hands. God could not do that because, when Adam sold out to Satan, that was a legal transaction entered into by two willing parties. And God does not do anything illegally. Ever.

God could not move in and unilaterally take everything back because that would have allowed Satan to point an accusing finger in the Face of God and say, “You are an unrighteous God. An unjust God. Adam LEGALLY gave me this world and dominion in it!” And he would have been right!

So you cannot hold God responsible for the suffering and death going on all around us. You cannot hold God responsible for the wars, the riots, the crime, the murders. You cannot hold God accountable for any of it. Because it is all a matter of CHOICE.

Adam made a choice and sold out. 

Those committing heinous crimes today are doing so because of a choice they are making.

As we covered yesterday, those who elect unrighteous people to public office are making their choice of who they are going to follow.

So if there is any blame to be pointed out, you need to look in the mirror. All of us. Brother Bob, too. We have all sinned and come short, FAR SHORT, of the Glory of God.

But, God has provided a way for us to come back to Him and under His authority. He did that through Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross. His death as a sacrifice paid the price and all we have to do is accept that it has been paid in full.

We’ll talk more about this tomorrow. I want you to see how God choose ONE MAN, Abram, and told him, “I will be your God if you will follow me…” Abram had to live in a fallen world, totally dependent on his God to deliver him and provide for him.

That one act, allowed God to bless him. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. We will cover this more tomorrow.

I want to pray for you right now, that your Spiritual eyes would be opened to the fact that Satan IS the god of this world. But we ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD. We are only passing through! Amen!

Scripture For Today:

Yesterday, we left off with a reference to the governments of this world being under the dominance of Satan and his demonic forces. That includes the government of the United States and our governing officials. From the President on down, if they are advocating for, promoting and encouraging ungodly acts, ungodly morals and ungodly laws, they are NOT agents of God for good.

That may be a shock for some of you – but get over it. 

We ARE NOT of this world, IF you are a born again Christian. And here is another shocking fact:

If you are attending a church that supports these ungodly people that promote ungodly conduct and behavior, there is a really, really good chance that your church leadership are really under the influence of demonic powers and not the Holy Spirit.

“Brother Bob, come on…” you may say. But really, let’s just look at it from a Biblical point of view ONLY. Keep politics out of it. No Democrat or Republican ideology. Just the Bible. Just the Word of God. ONLY. 

Now, if you have a problem with that off the bat – YOU are probably under a demonic influence yourself!  I know I just made some demon possessed person mad right now. 

But look at some social issues this nation is facing right now and tell me what the Bible (and ONLY the Bible) has to say about the position a Christian should be taking. Are you ready?

What does the Bible say about abortion? Murdering the innocent? 

What does the Bible have to say about child sacrifice?  That’s what abortion really is…

What does the Bible have to say about homosexuality?

What does the Bible have to say marriage between a man and a woman?

What does the Bible say about selecting RIGHTEOUS leaders? What is a “righteous leader,” you may ask?  It is one who FOLLOWS THE MORAL CODES OF THE BIBLE!  I can name an entire political party that has taken a vow NOT to do that? Can you?

What does the Bible say about obeying the laws of the land? Again, there are politicians at all levels of government that are advocating rioting in the streets, destroying property and other such things that violate almost every law on the books. Can they be righteous? I think not.

Now, as we get ready to close today, let me ask you this question. Do you think God is going to answer the prayers of someone who is violating His moral commandments and laws? Again, I think not.

Does God WANT TO BLESS US?  Absolutely! He says so over and over and over in His Word?

“Well, brother Bob, why doesn’t He bless us then?”

Because He cannot Bless what He has already cursed. And if you support a political party and put them in charge, a party that hates God, hates morality and hates law and order, God cannot bless it. He has already said those who do those things would live under the curse. They are not redeemed. 

And guess where that leaves us as a nation. Cursed. That is why all of these things are happening. If you were one of those demonic led individuals that voted for people that are leading you down the cursed path of life, you better repent and ask for forgiveness. Because time is running out.

That’s where I’ll leave this for today. This is why God can’t answer our prayers for deliverance. This country has chosen to follow Satan and his henchmen. God cannot bless what He has already cursed.

Yesterday, we learned that Adam was given complete dominion over all of creation. He had dominion even over the angels. That included Lucifer. Now we see why Satan was so keen at getting the dominion over everything GIVEN to him. Just as he told Jesus in Luke 4:5-7, “And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showing him all the kingdoms of the world at one moment of time. And said unto him, “ALL of this Power (or authority) I will give to you, and the glory of them: For THAT (power and authority) is delivered to me (or has been given to me) and to whomsoever I will, I can give it also. IF you will therefore worship me – all shall be yours.”

The devil told Jesus that he would give Jesus the authority to reign over the kingdoms of this world. Who is currently reigning over the kingdoms of this world? Satan is! He legally had that authority because Adam turned it over to him when Adam sinned.

You hear people say, wrongly, all of the time, “God is ruling the world right now…”

It takes all I can to bite my tongue and not reach out and grab them by the collar and yell in their face, “If God is reigning over the kingdoms of this world right now, including here in the United States, He sure is messing things up!”

No, God is not reigning over the kingdoms of this world right now. Satan is! Satan is THE GOD OF THIS WORLD!  That is why Satan could say to Jesus, “ALL of this power and authority I will give to you – for THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME – and to whoever I want to give it to, I can…” that’s Pastor Bob’s paraphrase. Amen!

But notice the phrase, “…For that is delivered to me…”  Who delivered the dominion and authority to rule over the kingdoms of the earth to Satan? Adam did.

Did you notice here, that Jesus did not argue this point with Satan? Jesus did not dispute it when Satan said he had all the power and authority over the kingdoms of the earth. That’s because Jesus knew Adam had legally turned over his original dominion to Satan. That is how Satan become the god of this world.

Also, if Satan truly did not have the power and authority and dominion over all the kingdoms of the world, then this would not have been a temptation for Jesus. Am I right? If God the Father truly had dominion, power and legal authority over the kingdoms of the world, Jesus would’ve called his bluff. He would said, “Oh, really…” But Jesus did not do that. Satan did possess all of the power and authority over all the kingdoms of the world. That is why it WAS a temptation of Jesus. Jesus could have avoided all the suffering IF he would have worshipped Satan. But, that means Jesus would have worshipped someone or something other than God the Father…and that would’ve been a sin – and that would negate the perfect sacrifice that Jesus was commissioned to offer.

I believe any sane person can see, in the natural, let alone in the spirit, that there are evil forces involved with the governments of this world right now. Even the government of the United States of America. Satan in in control. That is why there are so many ungodly people in charge, from the office of the President on down. That is why there are so many immoral laws being forced on believers. That is why sin runs amuck while righteousness is oppressed at every turn.

And that is where we will continue our discussion tomorrow about “God is Limited by Our Prayers.” Amen!

I want to pray with you right now that YOU will not be influenced by what you hear, see or feel concerning “who is in charge in this world.” Satan is. But, praise be to God, we are what? We are NOT of this world! Praise God!

We know that God created everything out of nothing. We know God created the world and the fulness thereof. We know that God gave dominion of everything to Adam. In the beginning, Adam not only had dominion over all the earth, over the animals and all of creation, but he also had dominion over the angels. Adam had dominion over ALL things God created. And that included Lucifer (called Satan after his expulsion from Heaven). Adam was, basically, second in line, behind Jesus, to the Throne of God. AMEN!

Let’s look at Psalm 8:4-8 to see what I mean.  “What is man, that you are mindful of him? And the son of man, that you visit him? For you have made him a little lower than the angels, but have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of your hands and have put all things under his feet. All the sheep, the oxen and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air and the fish in the sea and whatsoever passes through the sea…”

If all of this is true, you may be asking, “Well, brother Bob, why is God limited by our prayers then? Why can’t God just move in our lives without us having to permit Him to move.”

That was the reason, HE GAVE ADAM TITLE DEED TO EVERYTHING!

Think of it like this…

If someone loved you so much, they went out and bought 10 acres of land in a beautiful setting, built a great home there and then turned around and signed over the title deed to you and said, “I just want to bless you. HERE, it’s yours.”  Not too many people would complain about a gift like that, right?

Now, ten years or so later, someone comes along and offers you $1 million dollars for your property. Do you have to go back to the original owner and ask permission to sell? No. YOU own it.  And if you did sell it, could the original owner come back in and nullify the deal? No. YOU own it. 

If the original owner was truly upset and then found out you were really on the deal because the property was worth $10 million instead of $1 million, could he go in and nullify the deal? NO, YOU own the property and  you signed your name to the title deed giving the thief ownership of it.

But, if the original owner had the ability, He COULD start to arrange things in order to get the property back again. He could set up companies and put people in place that would begin the process of arranging so, one day, HE could get the thief to agree to a deal that the thief would believe had been a win for him…but in actuality, ALL THINGS WENT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER!

That is what actually happened from Adam up through the Cross! AMEN!

But, instead of just handing it back to you, He put an executor over the estate to manage it. YOU are allowed total, uninhibited access. You do anything and all things you desire. The only thing you cannot do any longer is give it away. 

Now, we started off by saying that God is limited by OUR PRAYERS. But, as I got ready to teach on that subject today, I was led by the Holy Spirit to guide this discussion with the example I just gave. I believe it shows a clear example of how Creation is set up, authority wise.

This will allow us to begin tomorrow’s teaching right here – about how our prayers are hindering God.

Yesterday, I introduced the subject of praying for laborers to be sent into the harvest. I also shared that nowhere in the New Testament did Jesus ever say that we were to pray that God would save anyone.  This is because He did all He needed to do TO SAVE EVERYONE. He sent Jesus to the Cross, honored the sacrifice of Jesus in His death – then RAISED HIM UP from the dead. Amen!

Now, it is FINISHED. The plan of Salvation for all of mankind is finished. There is not one more thing that needs to be added. Not one! Amen!  All that is left is to tell everyone so they can get in on it! Glory to God! Don’t shout me down when I’m preaching good!

I left off yesterday that you are probably not a very effective witness for your family. Oh, I’m not saying you are a negative influence. I’m saying that you are usually “too close” to them. They know your flaws inside and out. They know you’ve been preaching to them (in a lot of cases, it is called “criticizing their decisions” – and they have grown accustomed to just shutting you off when you’re talking about accepting the Lord, etc. They don’t even know they are doing it in most cases. 

As I shared yesterday, Acts 16:31 tells us that we can affect the salvation of those in our own house. This can also apply to our immediate family. We can also pray for those of our extended family. But, if every time you see them at funerals or family reunions or holidays, and you start in on them to “accept Jesus before it’s too late,” they will start to avoid you like the plague. Amen!

What should you do?

During your prayer time, you need to BIND THE POWER OF SATAN over their lives and CLAIM THEIR SOULS for the Kingdom of God…but don’t stop there.

Pray, “Lord, send someone to them to talk to them about you. About what you accomplished for them. Lord, send someone to them whose opinion they will respect and actually listen to and have a conversation with. I can’t do it. If you send me and if you provide the opportunity to do so, I’m more than willing. But, I know that you know that one particular person who can reach my loved ones more effectively. That one person who can have that kind of conversation with them that will frame the conversation in such a way that they will finally see that YOU are their Savior and that will lead my loved ones into the prayer of salvation. I am looking forward to receiving that phone call or having that conversation when they tell me, “Guess what just happened to me? I’m saved!” 

Praise God!  I remember when I was born again on January 25th 1992 at 1135pm ET in a little empty apartment in Columbus, Georgia. That night, in my despair, God invaded my life. I had nobody there to lead me in the prayer of salvation, but I knew enough and prayed it myself and felt the Holy Spirit come upon me and change me. 

My wife had been praying for me for over four years since SHE was born again. I was just like the example I gave about your family members. I was like, “yeah, yeah…whatever…I’m already saved…blah, blah, blah…”

But WHEN it truly happened…oh Praise God!  After I had about a 15 minute prayer and praise session with the Lord, my next thought was, “I have to tell my wife!”  And I jumped on the phone and we had another prayer and praise session over the phone with both of us crying and rejoicing. Amen!

Although I was alone…I have had similar stories from my family members. When they finally “got it” – I have received a phone call telling me! Praise God! That is what you are praying about, right? That they be born again?

It does not matter who leads them to the Lord, as long as they get led. That is all that matters. 

So pray that the Lord would send THAT ONE PERSON who can accomplish the job. Amen!
