Robert Dellinger, M.S., CCC-SLP of the Wake County Public Schools is back for our second episode in our school-based segment. Listen to Rob continue his discussion related to challenges school-based therapists face, and offer suggestions for how we can expand our viewpoint and provide more comprehensive therapy to children who stutter in the schools.
"Unless we’re experts in stuttering - and most of us aren’t - the work setting challenges of school-based practice (and the limits of our education and training) can really pressure us into relying too much on Speech Tools." We can evolve our thinking around Speech Tools. The biggest misconception is that school-age CWS can learn speech tools, and apply them all the time, and then the problem is fixed. Stuttering just doesn’t work this way.
