Grab some pastels from the closet and find a flower in your yard to draw. In this episode I draw a California Poppy from my backyard using some cheap dry pastels I had in my studio. Take a good look at your flower and notice all the different colors that you see when you take a minute or two and just look. Key notes from the episode: Use dark colors to make a black for the shadows and start light to dark. Get your composition started with a pencil if you like and once again keep the drawing under 15 to 20 minutes. Have a great time and don't worry about making anything that is refrigerator material.

This episode is my first attempt at an audio art lesson. The purpose is to inspire you to create art without watching a video of me painting myself. This I hope will keep from influencing the listener from being influenced by my painting. Recorded in my Encinitas Studio.

I am not apposed to technique training but I do lean far towards the direction of game based skill acquisition. Majority of the episode I begin the discussion of switching from playing American Football to playing Soccer and how the skills you learn playing one game, can transfer over to the other.

I'm not sure why but I could never wrap my mind around this drill ,we ran almost every practice my last year of playing youth soccer. I didn't improve at this drill as the season progressed and all it did for me was to make me feel out of touch. The bad drill season also corresponds with growing troubles in school because of dyslexia. The combination might have been part of the reason I stop playing soccer and switched over to playing American Football.

Lets make the practice session about the kids and not let ourselves get in the way of the players having a good time, while also becoming the best they can be. Try putting the players experience first and enjoy the journey of supervising and guiding while the players have more control in the outcome and path of the session. Try a little at first and see what you think.

My attempt at starting the conversation about creativity can crossover from different domains. Soccer and being the example I wii explore. Dyslexia and a little about how it has effected my creativity.

Kids need as much time with the ball at their feet as possible, lets not have them waiting in lines to get their turns at playing soccer. This episode scratches the surface of the benefits to kids running and playing the as much as possible during a practice session.
