Roshan Roddha is a newly qualified medical doctor, based in the UK. In this episode Rosh and I explore the process that he undertook to arrive at his decision to become a doctor and the really interesting 'rotation' system used to familiarise new medics with many areas of medicine, in order that they can ultimately begin to select an area in which to specialise. Dr Roddha shares his experiences, lessons learned and the challenges faced, when a particular niche to pursue isn't immediately obvious and how you can begin to shape the path to a successful life and career.

Dame Sheila Wallis DBE was recognised for her lifetime of service to education, including working hard with her dedicated team of teaching and support staff to turn a school producing 25% A-C grade at GCSE to one producing 75% A*-C. An incredible turnaround achieved in an area of economic deprivation. In this episode Sheila and I explore the role and impacts of education in her own life and in those of the pupils she and her staff worked so hard to help.

Dr Judie Gannon is shaping the landscape in the field of mentoring, in her role as author and academic. In this episode of the Success iD podcast Judie highlights what forms mentoring might take and the way that individuals and organisations can tap into the incredibly powerful potential that mentoring can maximise, when it is well organised.

Dr Judie Gannon is a senior lecturer in the International Centre for Coaching & Mentoring Studies (ICCaMs). Her main activities include teaching and supervising on the Doctorate in Coaching & Mentoring, MA in Coaching and Mentoring Practice and she also undertakes doctoral research supervision across the Business School. Judie's current research is on formal mentoring schemes and their coordination. She leads the STAMINa Mentoring Network which focuses on sharing best practice across mentoring schemes and offering support to mentoring scheme coordinators. In August the network will introduce the Doctors of Mentoring podcast to its resources ahead of the launch of the Formal Mentoring Schemes Report. Haidee-Jo Summers is one of a very few artists who has been accepted as a full member of the prestigious Royal Institute of Oil Painters. She has exhibited widely; captures light wonderfully and teaches others to hone their creativity skills. In this episode, Haidee-Jo helps explore the idea that for all of us interested in leading ourselves and other successfully an awareness of our own creativity is a key skill.

Sparked by a tragic event, Shaninga Marasha hit a turning point that ultimately led him to engage his (very obvious!) energy for helping young people maximise their potential. As the CEO and Founder of Big Kid Foundation, he reminds us all that we all know young people - in our communities and within our organisations - and that 'all kids are our kids." Great advice for leaders who may fall into traps when viewing younger members of their teams, through ill-informed or biased lenses. Patrick Philpott was still at school when a mentoring project he was asked to participate in highlighted to him just how important it is to maximise the potential of each and every person. This experience led to him starting the award-winning Visionpath, which brings employers and young people together in order to promote growth and collaborative learning. His experiences of leading this organisation puts him in a great position to share ideas on how leaders can unlock and extract the potential of others - a process that often starts with demonstrating belief in them as a human being!
