Summer of Soccer - by Big Soccer Preview

We're back! After a week off, Caleb, Jordan and Adam return to discuss whether Arsenal should be considered favorites for the Premier League title, now that they have seen off Tottenham and, courtesy of a late Nketiah goal, Man United. Frank Lampard lost El Sackio to West Ham (much to Adam's amusement) and has now....been sacked. Is this curtains for Everton in the Premier League? And how do these Golden Generation fellows keep getting work? And finally, it's FA Cup time once again so the boys are off on their 4th Round adventures. We're off the wonderous reaches of the UK this week: London, North Wales, Preston it's like a scenic tour really. 

Is Graham Potter in trouble? Adam, Caleb, and Jordan discuss Chelsea's woes and whether the English manager needs more time in Todd Boehly's club or if the fans were right to be chanting Thomas Tuchel. They also wrap up an exciting FA Cup 3rd Round, celebrate Newcastle's march to win the League Cup (aka that Northern trophy), and look ahead to a weekend of derbies up and down the country: City-United, Forest-Leicester, Tottenham-Arsenal, Fulham-Chelsea and, most importantly, a We Ate All the Pies Special Newcastle-Fulham. There's also plenty of transfer window talk, including Man United's bid to sign Wout Wegh...wait, really?? Oh, yeah.....Wout Weghorst. Alright then.

This past week in the Premier League has brought out the worst (best?) in the league's moaning managers. Brentford's fantastic results brought Jurgen Klopp's new excuses out, Mikel Arteta's remonstrating brought the ire of media folk and Eddie Howe, and even Antonio Conte couldn't help but complain about the complainers after Spurs slumped to a defeat against Aston Villa. Adam, Caleb and Jordan discuss all the weekend and midweek action, preview the FA Cup weekend with a special round of Top Shelf Picks, and talk about the latest from the Berhalter-Reyna feud that has turned US Soccer upside down. But first, a geography lesson from Adam to get things started.

Football is BACK and it is better than ever for almost everyone. That list certainly does not include West Ham. Adam, Jordan, and Caleb watched Boxing Day unfold together and bring their thoughts to another great show. We discuss who had the best post-World Cup start and Cody Gakpo's new Merseyside adventure plus more potential January transfer madness. Adam rants about West Ham's terrible year (excluding Europe, of course) but he follows it up with a hopeful message about 2023.

To start off this show, we say goodbye to the legend that is and will always be Pele. There will never be another like him. Rest In Peace, you giant of a man. Football will always remember you as the greatest player of the greatest game.

The sporting spectacle that is the World Cup has come to a close, and you know what that means! In from the frigid cold, Adam, Jordan, and Caleb offer their thoughts on an epic World Cup Final, Lionel Messi's cemented legacy as the GOAT, and, most importantly, Salt Bae. And then it's time to break out the paper hats, boil those sprouts, heat up the mince pies, and pour yourself a nice pint, for the Premier League is back just in time for some festive football. Oh yeah, the Premier League. Remember that? If you feel confused, don't worry. The boys catch you up to speed ahead of the most wonderful day of the year: Boxing Day.

It all comes down to this: Argentina vs. France, Messi vs. Mbappe, Malbec vs. Bordeaux. Despite all the great underdog stories in this World Cup, it comes down to two countries with the most experience. Jordan has taken a much-needed night off, so it's Adam and Caleb to break down this epic tournament. They ask what this ultimate final stage means for Messi's career, discuss the fallout from the USA's exit -- and then the fallout from the fallout. Will Gareth Southgate remain at England after their defeat in the Battle of the English Channel? And they just start to turn their heads back to the reason this podcast exists: England, the Premier League, and the FA Cup 3rd Round (Up the Wood!).

Also, we want to take a moment to remember Grant Wahl. Our thoughts go to his wife, his family, his friends, and all of the U.S. soccer fans who are grieving. It's an understatement to say we lost a good one.

Happy days are here again! It's Christmas time, the World Cup is in full swing, and the United States is into the Round of 16 thanks to Christian Pulisic's....painful sacrifice. Adam, Caleb, and Jordan are here to break it all down and celebrate this amazing time for U.S. Soccer. We also dive into the Americans' knockout round opponents the Netherlands, marvel at Australia's amazing tournament run, discuss the success of African nations at this tournament as well as their knack at badass nicknames, and, most importantly, give Caleb his own Hallmark Christmas movie special.

Only four matches in and already there's so much to talk about in the 2022 World Cup. Adam, Caleb, and Jordan welcome Devan back to the podcast for some tactical analysis of the USA babies' 1-1 draw against Wales. They also dissect England's impressive 6-2 win over Iran, and the Netherlands' 2-0 win that was a bad reflection of Senegal who really, really, really miss Sadio Mane right now. And it's time to take aim at how FOX is covering this World Cup and the sheer number of FIFA gaffes that have been committed in just the past few days alone. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 

Welcome to CupCast 2022, home of We Ate All The Pies' World Cup coverage. The big midseason break has commenced, meaning Adam, Jordan, and Caleb have all contracted World Cup fever.
