Genesis 22 is about more than faith and obedience. As we dive into this text, we will see the Fathers love at the center of this story.

In Genesis 21 we see the culmination of the Promise being kept to Abraham in the birth of Isaac, to Sarah. God continues to display his grace in the Promised Child being born, in providing protection to Ishmael and Hagar and we are encouraged to rest in the grace of our faith in Christ as the ultimate fulfillment of the Promise. God displays his protection of his people and produces praise from our faith in the one who sets us free and makes a nation from impossible people, whom He has adopted in as family, through faith in the grace of His promised Son, Jesus.

In Genesis 20 we see the pattern of sin and the power to break free from it.

In this week’s sermon, we will take a look at four scenes from Genesis 18-19. In these scenes we will look at how God is personally invested in the journey He has called Abraham too. As we look into God’s divine visitation with Abraham, we will also get a glimpse at God’s profound mercy. We will be reminded of God’s incredible mercy, and how all of us need a heavy dose of it.

In today’s sermon, we will see how God's desire for Abram and his descendants was for them to be a "marked people." For them to stand out distinctively among all the peoples of the world by the sign they bore, and by the way they lived. We will see that through our relationship with Christ today, we too should be a “marked people” who stand out distinctively.

In Genesis 16, we see the suffering of barren Sarai leads to her taking God’s promise into her own hands, and Abram passively submits to Sarai's request. This sin causes chaos, destruction, and affliction in each of the characters story, but in the midst of all this, there is hope: God sees.
