SUNANDBASS Podcast #30 comes from Stateside badman Stunna.

A classically trained pianist as elegantly shown in one of our recent video diaries, he’s had a raft of releases on quality labels, all showcasing his own unique sound and take on drum and bass. And not just satisfied with highlighting his own achievements, he also hosts his own weekly ‘Greenroom’ show on Bassdrive every week, a true testament to his love and passion for music.

As the leaves start to change to a thousand and one shades, the evenings draw in closer and we all want to be snuggled up in front of a nice roaring fire, the first podcast of post SUNANDBASS 2014 has arrived, and this time from one of our oldest residents.

Gato Perez has been part of the crew since 2004 and here he indulges us in another thick slice of his top shelf tracks. Influenced by the late 90’s Frankfurt Techno scene, Gato likes to draw for both grooving and minimal tracks, and build up a story of wonder, layers and flavours.

Only 5 days to go till Sun And Bass 2014 and we’ve got a nice bit of extra hype in the shape of SUNANDBASS Podcast 28; to tide you over while you pack your bags, buy that sun cream and try and contain your excitement!

Loxy has been representing for proper drum and bass since the start of the 90’s, on both the decks and the production boards.

Known to pretty much never drop a beat and be absolutely on point with hunting down the latest and best sounds, his technical ability and superb selection have seen him asked to be a resident DJ for some of the best in the business – Metalheadz, Hardware, Exit – and the list could go on and on. He’s also really increased his own production output in the last years, gracing labels such as Exit, Digital Soundboy, Metalheadz and of course his own CX:Digital imprint.

All of this makes his contribution to the music both undeniable and totally essential – immerse yourself in the sounds – and we’ll see you next week on the island!

As we edge ever closer to SUNANDBASS 2014, one of our long time supporters steps up to the plate.

Utah Jazz has been holding the drum and bass torch up high since his first releases in 2000, since then gracing us with 4 albums, the most recent of which, his ‘Portfolio’ LP, has just been released on Spearhead.

This mix nicely showcases Luke’s style, blending dubs and new tracks alongside some stone cold classics that always deserve an airing.

Drum and Bass has probably been around since around 1993, give or take, depending on where you stand on the ‘is it jungle, is it drum and bass?’ debate.

Paradox has been releasing vinyl since 1992 under his Mixrace (alongside DJ Trax), Brown Assassin and Paradox monikers. This makes Dev Paradox an essential part of drum and bass and jungle music, and he’s been on the cutting edge of it all since then – even if the kids just started stealing his hairstyle ideas now!

SUN AND BASS Podcast #26 comes from the man himself, and put together in his own inimitable hosting style, he educates us on the music and airs some of the finest cuts currently around, yet as per usual, never with any arrogance or elitism.

Nu:Tone steps into the fray for SUNANDBASS Podcast #24.

The Drum and Bass landscape would be quite a different place without Dan Gresham. After a number of 12’s and the defining ‘Future Sound of Cambridge’ EP on Hospital in 2004, Dan has since graced our ears with 3 Nu:Tone albums and also a Nu:Logic album with his brother and sparring partner, Logistics.

Just the shear wealth of music cannot be ignored, but the quality control that he has managed to maintain throughout is beyond impressive. He is certainly an artist that Drum and Bass needs to be thankful for, bringing musicality, soul and depth, yet also a distinct ear and knowledge for what the dancefloor requires.

The Daddy Randall, the DJ’s DJ, the inspiration and role model for nearly all other drum and bass DJs such as Andy C and Friction. He’s been DJing since the mid 80’s, and ripping up drum and bass raves since they began, so it’s fair to say he knows a thing or two about this game!

SUNANDBASS Podcast #23 comes from none other than DJ Randall, and we’re super chuffed to have him join us for the series. Almost 90 minutes of live, fresh, real beats, this one’s chock full of dubs of course, so make sure you lock in and listen carefully for another top drawer lesson!

Our March podcast comes from a long-standing member of the family, Rumba. Since 2005, he has been responsible for looking after all the sound matters for the festival, while still finding time to grace the decks in Sardinia with his own inimitable smooth yet energetic style.

Influenced by a wide spectrum of sound including reggae, dancehall, live percussion and all kinds of electronic music, his love for drum and bass began after moving to London for one year – and you can hear the 10 years of history in his selection and faultless mixing. Enjoy!

Tokyo Prose takes to the controls for SUNANDBASS Podcast #21 and he takes us on a journey showcasing again why his stock is so hugely on the rise.
