This week we will hear Jesus’s charge to his church in a familiar text that highlights a vision for discipleship. We will unpack some new initiatives for adult discipleship at Urban Refuge. And we also have a great opportunity to hear from Katie Brown on how we are pursuing the discipleship of the next generation.

Matthew 11:28-30 calls all who are tired and weary to "Come". And while that alone is such a powerful and beautiful invitation, these 3 verses also point out four things we usually don't do (or struggle to do) that contribute to our being tired, and not walking in the rest that God promises in this passage. Join us this Sunday as we explore this text, and hear the Lord calling us to let go of that which we are holding on to, so we can grab ahold of all that He has for us.

This week we look at what ministry is and God's design for it in the local church. Paul notes how God gives gifts of ministry to everyone in the church and how some gifts are to be used for equipping the saints to do the work of the ministry.

Last week, we looked at Ephesians 2:10 & 4:11-16 to help us understand what it means when we say, “Every Member a Minister”. Join us this Sunday, as we look to the word to understand the posture we are called to walk in as we "Go", and the beautiful difference between Reacting, and Responding to Him.

Many of us who have come to know Jesus as Lord know why we don't simply gather, but also scatter: because we are called to. We are called to "Go" (Matthew 28:18-20), and reflect the light of Christ to the world, so that they may know Him. But we must remember in our going, to keep our eyes on the main thing; which is who He is.

Last week, we examined John 5 to explore the profound question Jesus posed: "Do you want to be made well?" We discussed how God desires to lead us to healing and freedom from both the obvious and hidden hurts that affect not only us but also those around us. This week, we shift our focus to the book of Jonah to further understand how these hurts can shape our perception of our heavenly Father and influence how others see Him.

This week we look at our life together when the church gathers. This text gives us a blueprint for body life together and it will help strengthen us to finish the race set before us.

Over the last two weeks, we have looked at how a misunderstanding and misuse of authority can lead to church hurt and marriage hurt. This Sunday, we will look at the story of Jesus healing the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5 to understand what it means to allow God to bring us through a process of healing from the hurt we have experienced and hurt we don’t realize is still impacting both ourselves and those around us. Join us as we explore the depth of the question “Do you want to be made well?” and how that question reveals to us a beautiful truth of who God is and the relationship we have with Him.

This week we look at a subject that is the source of widespread church hurt: authority in the church. When leaders misuse authority, it dishonors God and hurts people. We have said multiple times to those who experienced church hurt: that was not Jesus. Sometimes the institution that bears his name does not follow what he says about his church. This text is a tuning fork that can help test whether or not we are following what Jesus taught us about authority in his church.

Last week we saw that a misunderstanding and misuse of authority in the church leads to church hurt. This week we will see that a misunderstanding and misuse of authority in marriage leads to marriage hurt. We will learn that this text speaks to all of us because of how the text gives us a deeper look at our relationship with Christ.
