On Sunday SoulDay, Damesha and Alli decided to switch things up and delve into a trending yet often overused topic: narcissism. Join us on this transformative episode where we shed light on the dark realities of narcissism and narcissistic abuse, offering fresh perspectives, actionable insights, and a path towards healing.
Narcissistic abuse is a form of emotional and psychological abuse that can have devastating effects on the lives of its victims. Narcissistic abuse is perpetrated by individuals who have a personality disorder characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a lack of empathy for others, and a constant need for admiration and attention.
The effects of narcissistic abuse can be both immediate and long-lasting. Initially, victims may experience confusion, anxiety, and a sense of being overwhelmed. They may struggle to comprehend what is happening to them, as the behavior of the narcissist can be unpredictable and inconsistent. The victim may also feel isolated and alone, as the narcissist may attempt to control their access to social support networks.
Over time, the effects of narcissistic abuse can become more pronounced. Victims may experience a range of emotional and psychological symptoms, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They may struggle with low self-esteem, feelings of worthlessness, and a sense of being trapped in the abusive relationship.
Narcissistic abuse can also have a profound impact on a victim's physical health. It is not uncommon for victims to experience chronic stress and anxiety, which can lead to a range of physical symptoms such as headaches, digestive problems, and chronic pain.
In addition to the immediate and long-term effects on the victim, narcissistic abuse can also have broader societal effects. Narcissists often seek to manipulate and control those around them, which can lead to a breakdown of trust, communication, and cooperation within families, workplaces, and communities.
Leaving a narcissist relationship or system takes immense bravery and strength. It's like breaking free from a web of manipulation and gaslighting, but with each step towards freedom, you become stronger and more resilient.
If you are experiencing narcissistic abuse, it is important to seek help. This may involve reaching out to a trusted friend or family member, seeking therapy from a qualified mental health professional, or contacting a support group for victims of narcissistic abuse. Remember that you are not alone, and that there are resources available to help you on your journey to healing and recovery

This week on Sunday SoulDay we have Soul Fueler Hassan M. Al-Shohaty, a former investment advisor with a successful 15-year career in the financial industry. However, everything changed when he contracted Covid-19 in March 2022. During his two-week self-isolation period, he took the opportunity to focus on himself and rediscovered his true calling.
Born in Yemen where he was exposed to traditions and society's expectations of how men and women should behave, Hassan always had a sense of curiosity about life, reason, and purpose. His journey through life, and in particular the corporate world and investment industry led him to run and manage a team, achieving great success. Yet, underneath the surface, he felt unfulfilled and self-diagnosed himself depressed.
Through meditation and introspection, he embarked on a transformational journey, delving into the meaning of stress, trauma, and the connection between mind and body. This path of self-discovery led him to put down his thoughts and started writing a book, challenging misconceptions about men's wellbeing and mental health.
Today, Hassan, a husband and father of two has transitioned from financial services to become an empowering high-performance coach, dedicated to helping others live a thriving and fulfilling life. He is driven to share his message of finding one's true self and embracing every day as the most important day of your life.
