The Victorian Government is set to offer the state's public servants a one-off $5600 payment all to combat the rising cost of living. Under a new deal supported by Premier Jacinta Allan superannuation payments for parental leave will double to 104 weeks there will be more working-from-home rights and staff will also be entitled to extra leave.

A car has erupted in flames overnight on the Gold Coast with the owner discovering the inferno in a Coomera car park when returning from shopping. It took around 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze and the fire has not been treated as suspicious.

Western Sydney's Parramatta light rail is set to be in full action later this year with services starting as early as July. Testing on the project which began in January is now almost a fifth of the way through. Once services begin they will run from 5 am to 1 am every day carrying around 28-thousand commuters between the Parramatta CBD all the way to Olympic Park.

Two teenagers are in hospital after a double stabbing in Sydney's southwest overnight. Police found an 18-year-old with stab wounds around 10 pm last night on Merewether Close in Minto. A short time later another 18-year-old man was found in the next street also with stab wounds. They were both treated by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in stable condition.
