A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after a stabbing in Melbourne's southeast overnight. The 39-year-old was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Melbourne police are on the hunt for a man who attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl as she walked home from school.  She was in Doncaster East when the man ordered her into his Audi late last month. Fortunately, she was able to get away and sought help from a nearby resident.

The small Victorian town of Clunes is in shock following the alleged murder of 23-year-old Hannah McGuire. Hannah is described as a "bright young woman" with "a heart of gold." Her body was found in a burnt-out car in bushland near Ballarat on Friday. Late yesterday her 21-year-old ex-boyfriend Lachie Young was charged with her murder.
He's set to face court later today.
